Shaking kitten

Last week I noticed that my when lying down my kitten was shivering quite abit. The room wasn't cold and his paws, ears and end of the tail were a normal temp. I kept my eye on him but he stopped after around 15 mins. I honestly just brushed it off thinking he might of been over stimulated or his food was too cold (accidentally fed him his food straight from the fridge) this morning I noticed it again he was ly down awake and he started shivering and yet again he didn't seem cold. Ive kept my eye on him today and he's not been acting the same he's been quite distant not as loving as usual and he seems tired. When he woke up this evening he lay on the floor rubbing around on the carpet but he was shivering again? I've been reading online and all that keeps coming up is hyperglycaemia. I'm so scared I am planning on getting him checked up I just wondered if anyone has experienced this?

You need to go to the vets, at this age kittens can die really quickly

littlebillie · 14/10/2020 22:59

Also get him on a hot water bottle to warm him nip

Does he ha e free access to food? Id leave a constant supply out if not and see if that helps?

He needs a vet, it’s not normal.

Plump82 · 15/10/2020 12:03

That's not normal. Vets ASAP. My 1st thought was he's fitting.

TeddyIsaHe · 15/10/2020 12:11

You need to call the vet today.

I don’t mean to be harsh, but if you don’t realise that do you really think you should be caring for a pet?

Vinorosso74 · 15/10/2020 13:57

I hope you've had him to the vet now. It might be something minor (hopefully) but it's always worth getting things checked out.

littlebillie · 15/10/2020 21:56

Anything under a year is a kitten

LostFrog · 16/10/2020 21:30

Hello OP did you manage to get him to the vet?

bodgeitandscarper · 17/10/2020 11:19

How is he doing op?

He hasn't done it properly since and if he has it's only been for spilt seconds he's going to the vet early next month as I couldn't afford it this month

Op I’d get insurance now if you can, if you go to the vet about this is won’t be covered. You can’t get insurance for a moggy for around £10 per month. And it will cover you for a few thousand in claims a year.

madcatladyforever · 24/10/2020 08:03

One of my cats used to get a virus once a year just liek a common cold and would do this. You do need pet insurance though, get it now and then say this condition started after you got it.
How is the cat?

madcatladyforever · 24/10/2020 08:03

Don't look anything up on the internet its very misleading.

bodgeitandscarper · 24/10/2020 08:29

Good to hear he's not as bad, I would get him checked, but we have taken on a new young cat who was semi feral. Obviously the whole trapping, neutering, getting used to a new home was incredibly stressful for him and he often had episodes of shaking. It may be that your kitten is afraid or over excited, but sensible to rule out anything medical. I hope he continues to improve. Ours doesnt shake at all now, he's turned into a confident happy cat.
