Three kittens spayed today and now in vet vests. New territory for us as we’ve always have those collars.
Now according DH and the patient notes - these vests are supposed to stay on for 10 days. My question is has anyone managed this? If so.... how did you keep the vests clean iykwim?!

Watching with interest, this is going to be us next week. 10 days seems over the top to me!

I agree. Plus we’ve just discovered that there isn’t a hole for “you know what” to emerge into the litter tray! Have just had to undress, cut and redress three kittens. (Two person job and webbox and gloves required)

Oh why the vests and not collars!

One of my old cats needed a recovery suit; the way the fabric was cut away around his tail was shaped so he could still use the loo. I had two suits so I could wash one while he wore the other. We couldn't use a cone because he got to his allergy spot (which was why we'd tried one) regardless.
Good luck!

They just came home in vests! I suspect dh may have been given options.? He’s a bit vague under questioning.
They do have a large portion of their flank shaved plus both front legs. (They are only 5 1/2 months and 2.5kg). So maybe a vest better supported the surgical site? Non dissolving stitches as well 😟
They have just about recovered enough to walk without a wobble and have eaten.

My baby was spayed 8 days ago and I have alternated between the vest and cone. The vest seems to constrict her movement a bit and she runs around more with the cone.

The vest I have allowed her to use the litter tray with no problems, she did somehow manage to get pee on it once and I had to take it off and wash it, it was just as well I had the cone as well.

This morning we have had two successful wees. Just waiting for the third one. Cutting the vests for a hole was a good thing.!
Two kittens are wandering around and exploring, but the third is hiding away. Pain meds to be administered at lunchtime.

My two had shirts of a different design which were quite open at the back - just a couple of straps going past the tail from front to back.
One of my cats wouldn’t wee whilst wearing the shirt though, unless we unpopped the poppers and folded it up round her waist.

10 am and apparently one of them has escaped their vest. Dh is home on cat watch. He’s left her out of the vest as she’s happier and not bothering with her stitches.
All three have spent the day asleep.
