Cat insurance

Hi, can anyone please recommend a good value cat insurance policy that is fixed, as in the premiums don't increase as the cat gets older? If there is such a thing........feeling overwhelmed with the choices! Our cat is just over a year old with no health problems, been chipped and neutered etc.

Premiums will always increase as your cat ages, however Petplan don’t increase premiums based on previous claims.

Toddlerteaplease · 08/10/2020 13:42

Yes. Premiums are not fixed unfortunately.

Ahh, thanks for that. I couldn't get a straight answer from google.

Try tesco I've never claimed but my cats are 3 and I pay about £18/£25 a month for them both. I have the top tier cover as well.

Bought By Many is good too with 15K of cover on a lifetime policy

We use Animal friends and the price only increases by a few pence each year. Cats are nearly 12 years old and it’s about £6 each a month.

Ask your vet practice if they run an in house pet insurance scheme for their clients. Mine does, and I believe it’s quite a bit cheaper than national insurance companies.
However, I’ve never taken out pet insurance for my cats in the past 40 years. Maybe I’ve been lucky, but I’ve only ever needed one hospital admission for a cat, costing £400 total. That works out to £10 per year, so I think I’ve saved quite a bit on premiums. I’m happy to “pay as I go” with my cat, but if you prefer to insure, ask your vet.

My vet runs a scheme but its not for insurance. Its for flea/wormer/annual vaccinations instead

I've had a lot of claims. 21k worth and my insurance is £125 a month for two Persians ages 10 & 8

Petplan whole life cover is excellent. Not cheap but Dcat has had kidney failure for 7+ years (she's 19) and they are still paying out (we have to pay first £120 in every claim year and 20% but its still worth it).
