How much food for indoor cats?

Hello, could I get some advice on how much food to give my cats, please?

We adopted them three weeks ago. Their previous owner recommended half a pouch each of wet food and half a scoop of dried food daily.

They would happily eat more wet food but would they gain too much weight if they did?

Thanks!

Just to add, they are two and a half years old and have been on Whiskas one plus pouches.

Put their weight into a website like this one www.petnutritionalliance.org/cat.php then review the nutritional content of their food. Telling us the weight of dry food will give a more accurate outcome, as a scoop could be anything from a tiny teaspoon to a bucket!

Thank you, m0use, will do. That's very true Grin
I feel I need to get into a routine with them.

My older indoor cats eat nearly a whole pouch per day plus dry (it’s just left out for them to graze) and a few treats each. They’ve stayed at the same weight they were at two years old. But, they aren’t greedy cats.
Now the kittens are an entirely different temperament!

It depends so much on the individual cat; size, how active they are etc. Mine are comparatively large (4.6kg and 6kg respectively), indoor only. They share 1.5 pouches of Felix AGAIL a day, then have a decent quality dry ad lib - always down & kept topped up. They self regulate and according to the vet are in great condition. OK so Boycat has quite a saggy primordial pouch (undercarriage) but that's typical with indoor cats who tend to exercise a lot less, and it's just loads of loose skin.

Thank you both, that's interesting. One of our cats really likes his food and likes to graze on his brother's leftovers if he can get away with it. He is also less active and has a saggy pouch. He's the one to watch with portion size. Our other guy is slimmer and more lively.
