Preparing cat for new roof

In the next month or so we'll be getting a new roof. Freda is quite timid with certain things. She freaks out when the window cleaner is here so id like to make sure she's ok when we get the roof done.
Ill make sure there's plenty places she can go in to feel safe and i have feliway. And I'm working from home so I can check in on her.
Does anyone else have any suggestions.

There was a cat behaviourist on TV who was pregnant and wanted to get her cat used to the noise of a crying baby. So she got a recording and started playing it to the cat quietly for short periods, then increasing the volume and time as the cat got used to it. Could you maybe try something similar with drilling sounds?

How long will the roof take? Would it be better to put your cat into a cattery for the duration, so she isn’t stressed by the noise and tempted to run away from home to escape it?
I put mine into her regular holiday cattery when we had pneumatic drills screaming all day to resurface the road outside my house for a week. I was afraid she might get run over by the massive vehicles, run away, or get sticky tarmac on her fur. I brought her home when it was all finished.

I agree with the Cattery. There is just too much that can go wrong otherwise ...

Shes only one and never been to a cattery. Plus there isn't actually any near by us at all and we don't drive. Im not sure how long the roof will take. Still trying to actually get a roofer but that's a whole different thread!

I'm going to have the same issue next year when we do our bathroom and hall stairs and landing which have to be done all together (new boiler, pipes, floorboards).

Our cats are semi feral so can't go to a cattery so we will move them into our downstairs rooms for the duration and cover all the furniture. Ours are house cats as well. They've been in the house with redecoration happening but this will be major work.

I would think a chattery might be best for you cat as it's such a short term disruption.

I've got a similar issue with building work which might be happening next year, and a very elderly blind cat.
She still goes into the garden and doesn't know how to use a litter tray so I think I'm going to have just work from home and set my phone to remind me to take her outside every few hours. Not ideal, but the building work will take months and I'm not going to put her in a cattery for that long at her age.
