Just that really. Mrs cat was spayed 10 days ago, all week she has stayed in the shed, eating and sleeping and using her litter tray.
We’ve left the door open during the day for several hours. Today, she ventured out and was met by her ‘hubby’ Fat Sam. They said ‘hello’ (euphemism and it was a long ‘hello’),
They have now sauntered off into the fields together. I don’t know if I will them again.

The kittens were at the window doing eeeewwwwwww faces, my old pair were doing shocked ‘not in front of the children’ faces.

I’m a bit sad.

She might return. It’s getting colder.....

Bargebill19 · 26/09/2020 19:17

She is a true feral according to the vets. Fat Sam has turned up on the back deck in his doughnut bed. No sign of Mrs cat... the shed is warm and dry and waiting if she wants. But, 5 months in I guess she is allowed to explore.

I'm sure she'll visit, and stay when the weather gets worse. She's living the life she wants.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/10/2020 08:50

Have you seen Mrs cat since she left?.

Bargebill19 · 03/10/2020 11:27

Sadly no. Neither has any of our neighbours. I hoping that she is tucked up safe and sound in a warm dry place somewhere.

I would imagine so. Mrs Cat is one of life’s survivors.

Bargebill19 · 03/10/2020 19:36

She’s returned!!! Very thin and absolutely starving. Has happily eaten a bowl of food. Hasn’t ventured back in the shed but is dry underneath DH car.

Phew!. Can you put a fleece under the car for her?.

Bargebill19 · 03/10/2020 19:52

I’ve got a plastic tray with a thermal blanket in - I’m going to try that. His car has a large ground clearance . Hope she will use that or the shed which still has a cat bed in or even our back deck which has a doughnut cat bed undercover and fat Sam sometimes uses.

You need an aga. No animal can resist an aga.

Vinorosso74 · 03/10/2020 20:03

I'm sure of food and shelter is available she will keep returning. Maybe not daily if she finds alternative facilities but at least she has a safe place.
Has Fat Sam been snipped?

Bargebill19 · 03/10/2020 20:17

Mrs cat has been done. Fat Sam will rip your arms off at the mere suggestion of cornering him. I risked limbs trying to work him and defies him. He’s also not reliable in his visiting to book him into a vets, which I can currently only do on a Wednesday due to work.
The only other available females have either been spayed or are booked in (his kittens I have indoors).
Plus I really really don’t want an angry spraying tomcat in a cage in either of our new cars. Bad enough that our back deck smells of tomcat.

He’s a lovely cat, but old and smelly and very very battered and a fearsome warrior.
No aga as we are on a boat. But the coal fire seems to have a similar effect!

Good the ladies are all done. Are there any charities near you whi could get Sam sorted as he must be a menace?

Bargebill19 · 03/10/2020 22:06

Sadly no, due to covid. He’s a well known character and has apparently several homes which all offer food and shelter. Although I seem to be current favourite (due to the ladies?!!) and the fact I feed him cooked fish and meat in gravy - his teeth are a mess. He’s currently wrapped up in a blanket in a doughnut bed on the rear deck under the covers with food bowls close enough he doesn’t have to actually leave his bed.

Mrs cat has disappeared again.

Oh no his poor mouth must feel so painful!. Maybe they will start again soon or prioritise him due to suffering.

Bargebill19 · 03/10/2020 22:21

I don’t think he’s in any pain - he will eat Go cat etc. Just I’m a big softy with any cat. You know throw who buys fish and chips with extra fish just for the cats. ..

Mrs cat appears to becoming back nightly. Shed door is open for her. She’s hanging around tonight (it’s cold and very damp). Bed and board are set up for her, should she wish to use it. (Fingers tightly crossed).

You can put cat flaps in sheds etc if leaving the door open is draughty.

Maybe Mrs cat doesn’t resent you after all.

Bargebill19 · 04/10/2020 21:26

We rent - a cat flap isn’t allowed otherwise I would have done it!! Very happy to accommodate her by opening and closing the shed twice a day, I’ve even sourced an outside cat hide/bed shelter which is in the shed porch. I’d be blown away if she would trust me enough to come in or on the boat.
