Cat and balcony!

After a recent fire safety report of my building, residents have been told that we have to remove pretty much anything remotely combustible from our balconies (furniture, plants, bikes etc). The problem is, we have a cat who loves using our second floor balcony, which we have cat proofed with a reed screen. I worry that he'll fall off right between the railings without it!

Do you think there are any alternatives I could use to prevent him falling, or do you guys have experience with cats on second floor balconies, aka should I trust him?

Thanks in advance!

Don't know if this is any help
www.amazon.co.uk/Flat-Cats-Window-protection-Standard/dp/B00PKFB3BA
It's a virtuality invisible mesh screen that is used to cat proof windows but looks like it could be used on balconies too.
Sadly my friends cat had a fall from a 2nd floor balcony and didn't make it.
Hope you can sort something out for your gorgeous pussSmile

No idea about a solution I'm afraid, but your cat is absolutely gorgeous!!

Chicken wire mesh fixed to the uprights with metal bent pins. I’m guessing Perspex is ruled out.

Gorgeous tiger op!

It sounds like the screen you have used is not necessarily the safest catproofing anyway. You need strong netting secured all the way up and blocking any gaps (hard to advise without seeing a photo of the balcony). Zooplus and Amazon both sell some, or there's the ProtectaPet balcony kit but it's more expensive.
