2 cats for child with possible cat allergy?

We have reserved two British Shorthair kittens. We visited today and were there for an hour. DS started having a runny nose and sounding like he had a cold, he also sneezed twice. Half an hour after leaving he was fine.

I'm thinking it's a cat allergy (there was also another mother cat with four tiny kittens, so in total 10 cats).

Assuming he's allergic to them, is there really a breed that works for people who are allergic to them? I've heard of Rex and Siberian being good, but is that fact?

And do you think it's possible that he was reactive because there were so many cats there, but he'd be fine if we just had two at home (indoors)? I've had cats before but never had to deal with allergies. I don't want him to suffer and I don't want the cats to end up needing to be rehomed either.

That's a no-brained for me. Just don't get any cars until you know for sure.

Sometimes you do get used to them after a few weeks but it’s not guaranteed.

Has he got any allergies to anything else?.

Rex and Siberian have different features. The Rex is a low/no dander cat so are a good breed if you are allergic to dander. However, many people are allergic to certain proteins in cat saliva which as cats wash a lot expose their owners to those proteins. Siberian's do not produce the most allergenic protein in their saliva.
It is always advisable that the allergic person spends time with the breed before acquiring.
