Sitting on knee.

It took the late Fatty 2 years to sit on my knee. Started with her sitting on cushion on my knee then progressed to just a towel.
It's taken five tears for Snorg to do the same. But she will also only sit if there is a fleece pad on my knee.
Do other cats to this or are mine just weird.

Is it a really comfy fleece pad though?.

homemadecommunistrussia · 19/09/2020 21:51

Current puss will only sit on my knee with a blanket and then only for about two minutes.
Previous cat would just lean against my leg.

Bargebill19 · 19/09/2020 21:56

The 3 kittens home in on who ever is sat down for lap/head/boob cuddles depending on which one gets there first. Older cats only do lap cuddles nothing else is good enough.

@Fluffycloudland77 it's the cover for the heated pad. She seems to like certain textures. Loves the pad in her igloo, the bathmat and a fleece blanket. Fatty adored towels.

She building up the time on my knee and last night went properly to sleep. It was lovely. It's been such a king time coming. I'm off sick with my MS at the minute, so I wonder if it's because of that. That she's being super affectionate.

They do seem to know when we’re ill. I’m sorry your off work, it’s very boring being unwell.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/09/2020 22:21

Cheddar hasn't noticed at all! I'm bored stiff!

I watched most of the bbc documentaries on wars and true crimes during lockdown. Nothing like starting the day with coffee and a show about a man who killed 8 members of his family off his face on Crystal meth.

mineofuselessinformation · 19/09/2020 22:28

My last cat never really sat on my lap - he just wasn't interested. Strangely though, in his last couple of years I found he loved being cuddled in my arms, on his back like a baby. It was very sweet.
Cats are weird beings! Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 19/09/2020 22:29

I'm whoa lot of true crime stuff as well!

Three years with current cat and we still all gather round to look if he sits on the same piece of furniture as another sentient being. Hates sitting on/with people, doesn’t like being picked up either. Good job we love him anyway.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/09/2020 22:30

Only one of our Persians liked laps, the moggies didn’t do laps either.

The Bengal liked to sleep on my lap.

Toddlerteaplease · 19/09/2020 22:31

Cheddar puts her paws on my chest and demands to be picked up. I have to carry her around perched on my arm. She's going to make me late for late one day because she refuses to be put down sometimes.

I had to dig around to find it, but here it is - my last ever picture of him.

Oldraver · 19/09/2020 22:32

Colin will sit on your knee but prefers my chest or sometimes neck

Toddlerteaplease · 19/09/2020 22:33

Aww. He was gorgeous.

When growing up I had a cat who was so very cuddly. He would sit on the lap of whoever was sat down on the sofa. He would try to sit on my head when I was sleeping. He would never protest when he was picked up. Our little cat we have now is never indoors. And when she is she just snuggles in her own bed. DH and I were only lamenting today that she isn’t a cuddly cat, and wondering how you actually can guarantee getting a cuddly cat, or if it is just luck of the draw.

JorisBonson · 19/09/2020 22:36

My 2 year old idiot will very occasionally jump on my knee. I cancel all plans when he's there. Then I get a few claws and off he goes.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/09/2020 07:51

I think it’s just luck of the draw with cats. Kittens are sometimes cuddly because their babies and need comfort but as they grow up it’s “eew no don’t touch me, it’s I’ve got to wash the smell of humans off now”.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/09/2020 09:13

I could rent Cheddar out to all the people who want a cuddly cat!

I could’ve rented Asbo out to people considering buying a Bengal. Sales would have plummeted UK wide.

I met dn’s two kittens the other day and they were so well behaved. Their house is intact & so are their hands. It was a revelation to me. I said to them I’d be ringing the vets every 5 minutes if I had a kitten that quiet.
