Kitten peeing and pooing everywhere

I'll be honest, I'm this close to rehoming.. I am totally exhausted.
Kitten is 12 weeks so I know v young. I've had since 9 weeks and he seems to have settled in fine.
I've had many cats over the years but never this problem. I understand there will be accidents.
I work from home (childmind) so always company, he's played with a lot and seems shattered at the end of the day
Problem is, he weed by the front door, I've cleaned and treated and tried to put stuff in the way to distract.. Still does it
Weed numerous times on the downstairs sofa.. It now stinks
Wees in 2 parts of the kitchen
Has today weed all over a car seat and the kids bags.. Parents are going to love me.
I am continuously cleaning up mess. We go out, get home to poo in the hall or patches of wee.
He has 3 trays, always check their clean and I'm at my wits end with living in wa feels like a prison making sure doors are shit so he doesn't ruin my bed (that he's weed on) or my sofa as I've just paid it off!!
Ideas before I go mad?!

Are you sure he was 9 weeks when you got him, and where did he come from? Their mothers normally teach them how to toilet.

HGKPG · 03/09/2020 14:19

Yes he was 9 weeks. He can and does use his litter trays, he just uses the other things more which is hard work

It sounds like the whole house may be too overwhelming for him at this point especially if there is a lot of coming and going (many children around etc.).

I would set him up in a quieter room upstairs if you can, with two litter trays and all this stuff and give him more time before giving access to the whole house.

Other than that, where are the litter trays and what type of litter are you using? It may be he doesn't like the location or litter, or simply forgets if it's a large distance to get there.

Aquamarine1029 · 03/09/2020 15:32

I think your home environment is far too stressful for your cat.

HGKPG · 03/09/2020 16:03

I've tried shutting him away, he just cried and claws the floors and doors.
He seems happy playing with the children, there's only a couple and we only arrive then go, there isn't much in and out disruption and will quite happily take himself off upstairs where he can be alone. The litter was what the breeder suggested and he does use it, just chooses times not to, there is never one far away from where he wees so I don't understand why.

Has a vet checked him?
Where did he come from?

HGKPG · 03/09/2020 16:58

Yes, he's seen a vet, up to date with jabs, all fine. He came from a breeder

A pedigree breeder or someone selling moggy kittens? Is he definitely the age they say?

HGKPG · 03/09/2020 17:30

He's half bengal, half they didn't know as the female got out, he was far cheaper than a purebred.. I can see why!! Yes he's 12 weeks now

I would be getting a urine sample checked to rule out uti. It could be behavioural/stress related but you want to rule out medical reasons first.

EloiseTheFirst · 03/09/2020 18:18

Sounds like stress. He needs to be able to get away from the kids when he's had enough.

Speak to your vet. You can get plug in diffusers to help with his anxiety.

Wolfiefan · 03/09/2020 18:44

Bengals are notorious for having behavioural issues. So a mog cross. May well not be the age you think it is.
You need to restrict his movement so he can’t pee on the sofa. Spend some quiet time with him. Feliway? Checked for UTI?
Female “got out”. Well if they didn’t want kittens it should have been spayed. Perhaps they are breeding from this cat for cash. And letting her straight out and not confining her with kittens. They want her pregnant again.

Shmithecat2 · 03/09/2020 18:47

He's either stressed or ill.

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 03/09/2020 19:00

Oh dear a Bengal you say? Our Bengal is 11 now and I've never known a cat like him tbh. He is totally nuts, I would never get another one, but that doesn't help you.
I agree with the others, try and restrict him to one or two rooms, plug in feliway and lots of attention and toys. He probably won't be happy until he is allowed out to terrorise the neighbourhood Wink

Maybe get the vet to give him a quick check over too.
Good luck.

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 03/09/2020 19:06

Also meant to say Bengals are very intelligent so don't let him get bored. You will find you can train him like a dog if you put the time and patience in.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/09/2020 19:52

Bollocks did a pedigree Bengal queen costing best part of £2k get out.

It’s a backyard breeder.

Is the kitten neutered?. It makes a huge difference.

HGKPG · 04/09/2020 09:22

Thanks for your replies.
So he's 12 weeks old, not yet neutured, vets said when he's 4 months so he's due in a months time, his second jabs are next week.
The house I got him from was in a very expensive area.. Not using that as an excuse but they really didn't strike me as 'backyard breeders' they had dogs and she escaped one day.. True? Not true.. The important part now is how I deal with this kitten.
He has plenty of quiet time.. The kids are very good with him. I have a good sized house, he has lots of toys, posts etc and he takes himself off when he doesn't want to play. He's playful and seems happy. He's very affectionate and will happily fall asleep in the middle of the playroom mid toys and play so I wouldn't say he was stressed.
Problem is weeing in 1 place now means I have to eradicate so he doesn't so it again. Any advise on the best way to clean/what products to try and keep on top of it or he will keep doing it of course.

Try using two trays, big ones because bengals are big, and ultra clumping litter. Ankle deep. If he likes a clean tray you’ll have to scoop straightaway.

Pets at home sell simple solution for cleaning up. You can put it into a pump spray to mist it on lightly after you’ve cleaned.

If he does it again after all that you can use an oral syringe to suck the wee up and the vet can test it for infection, usually costs £10 or so. Adding a teaspoon of water to his food will dilute his wee a bit if he’s not a big drinker.
