Escaping thru the locked cat flap.

We have a cat who has worked out how to escape through our cat flap even when it is locked. She figured out how to hook up the door when it was set to allow cats in, but not out again. Now she has worked out how to batter her way out when it is locked in both directions. We now put stuff in front of it at night but she still sometimes gets out. When we went away our cat sitter ended up putting three wooden tables in front cos one didn't work!

Anyone had similar? Any solutions?

One of my cats has just ran and busted through the Sureflap cat door to get at a random visiting cat! Our cats don’t use the cat flap. Heard such a loud bang, then my other cat really concerned, looked all over the house for barging cat! She was outside in the back garden where she’s not allowed at night, bit shaken too. Have had to cover and tape up the cat flap and find ways to keep visiting cat away.

Yep, our half-Siberian is very good at standing next to the flap till it clicks, then hooking the flap in and quickly shoving her head out to escape. She's quite clever all round. Her friend the daft torbie has seen her do this several times and still can't figure the process out.

I think sureflap can supply a fix for that.

Didn't someone on here say that you can get 3D printed perfectly fitting covers for Sureflaps (at a price)? - though it might have been on a cat forum I'm on...

We barricade the cat flap overnight - we use a large opaque plastic box, which is heavy enough that the cat can't shift it. The opaque colour works better - our first attempts were with a transparent plastic box, as the cat could still see the cat flap, he would try much harder to push the box away.
