Nasal tube, won't keep buster collar on!

We got Fartcat home from the vet today with a nasogastric tube and a cone of shame that they said Must be kept on. He's got a pelvis fracture and has to have his movement restricted. Unfortunately every time I put him in his cage he handily kicks the collar off within 3 seconds. What can I do to keep it on? He's not bothered about the feeding tube, but he is bothered about the cage and keeps trying to nose through the bars. I don't want to call the out of hour vets but other than having him lay on me 24/7 (which he would happily do) I am at a loss. Help!!!

Why have they put a NG tube in. Can't he eat normally? Do you have to check the placement of the tube before you feed. I presumed they put them in the neck as my cat had. Though you wouldn't get even the smallest tube in her nose.

He wasn't eating while at the vets so they put in the nasal tube as a short term measure. He has a bruised mouth from the accident but I think he'd probably eat now that he's home but we'd have to wait until tomorrow to get it removed.
Feeding him is a nightmare because the tube is so narrow. I am just worried he'll pull the NG tube out along with the little pins keeping it attached to his head. I may be camping on the living room floor tonight.

Be very careful about feeding if you think it's moved. We have to test for acid before we feed in humans, due to the risk of it going into the lungs.

I have to put sterile water down the tube first and if there are any signs of coughing, choking or vomiting I'm to stop and call the vet. It's a bit nerve-wracking, that part!

I can imagine we aren't allowed to do that in babies. We used to
If we couldn't get an aspirate. But totally banned now!
