Cat gave birth on my bed last night and won't move!

As the title says, I woke up this morning to 4 kittens and mum sleeping peacefully right in the middle of my bed. Luckily I'm single so I don't have to worry about the other side of my bed.

I've tried to move her to a nest I made for her, but she keeps moving the kittens back to the same spot. I need to wash the bedding so I can't leave her there for ever.

Any advice? I'm worried I'll have nowhere to sleep tonight!

Sorry but you can't bring us this conundrum with no kitten pics.

My suggestion is you dish up the goods pronto!

GolightlyMrsGolightly · 25/08/2020 10:29

I think you have to be really careful not to disturb her as she can take them away and you'll never find them again.

You could try making her a bed somewhere quiet in the roo. And see if she will choose it.

But you might end up.on the couch.

Could you move the bedding to her nest? Top sheet/duvet cover, then replace on your bed. The smell might be what keeps bringing her back, that or she feels safer on the bed

Carpathian2 · 25/08/2020 10:31

@GolightlyMrsGolightly

I did that earlier with a towel, I moved it to a different spot on my bed so I could get the quilt off. She's having none of it 😒

Is there another bed you can sleep on? Not helpful I know but I don't think you have an option

giletrouge · 25/08/2020 10:33

Can you sleep somewhere else for, like weeks? Grin

Carpathian2 · 25/08/2020 10:34

@Imonlydoingwhatican

I could do. It was brand new bedding! I made her nest downstairs so I'll move it to my room, but I don't think she'll go for it.

Nope sorry she's nested there now Grin

Els1e · 25/08/2020 10:35

They are lovely. 😻 Sorry but I think you have to move to the sofa.

ThePlantsitter · 25/08/2020 10:36

What an honour though. She must utterly trust you. So, yep, sofa for you for a few weeks Grin

hiphophippity · 25/08/2020 10:36

on the sofa for you Flowers

Carpathian2 · 25/08/2020 10:37

Thanks everyone for your replies.

The lovely thing is that she likes me being there in the bed next to her and cuddles up to me. She's really proud of her kittens and couldn't wait to show me. It's just the idea of me sleeping in the bed with a manky quilt that's bothering me ........

I'd buy a new quilt for yourself and leave her be. Sounds amazing to be honest. I would not be leaving that bedroom because of all the kitten cuddles

LookAtTheCahhOlivahhhhh · 25/08/2020 10:43

Is the duvet washable or will it have to go? I think I'd be looking at rolling the duvet into a little wall so you're not under it and dont accidentally disturb them in your sleep.
You might have to just buy a new duvet and let her have that one.

DullDullWeather · 25/08/2020 10:45

Thanks for kitten pic link @mylittlesandwich

OP they are GORGEOUS .
Awww , what beautiful kittens and Mum,

Carpathian2 · 25/08/2020 10:46

I think you're all right, I'll have to let her have the quilt and I'll get ( another!) new one.

They're so cute though and mum is amazing with them ❤️

They are beautiful. Whats her story? Is she your cat?

Frazzled2207 · 25/08/2020 10:49

Once they’re a bit more mobile I’d be worried about kittens falling off the bed in the light like I was with my babies. Is that a “thing”?

weneedboujiecocktails · 25/08/2020 10:49

This has really made me chuckle. Cats really do own their owners Grin

Carpathian2 · 25/08/2020 10:54

@EachandEveryone

Yes, she's mine. I've had her from a kitten.

She was booked in for spaying in March but COVID happened and she managed to get out and get pregnant. I'm not over the moon about this, but I've managed to find homes for them all when they're ready to leave mum then she's off to the vet.

Have you got your bed back yet OP?
