Urine and faeces... everywhere

We adopted a cat last year, she was 8 years old and she had been living in an outdoor cattery pen at her previous house as she’d been used for breeding (now spayed).

She settled in, in her own time. In the early months she peed on two floor cushions, which we threw away. We thought it was probably stress and it did seem to stop for a few months.

Over the past four or five months, though, it’s started happening again. She pooed on the rug a couple of times, on the doormat, and on the futon in our spare room. And over the past six weeks it’s got much worse. She’s peed on the sofa twice 🤢 and pooed on it too, and this morning alone she’s peed on an ottoman and pooed on the sofa.

We are cleaning it the best we can using white vinegar, and the stuff off amazon for pet urine.

We have three litter trays in different parts of the house which are cleaned daily and washed weekly (we don’t use bleach).

Any idea of how we can deal with this? She had a vet checkup last week (though not bloods) and was deemed to be in good health.

Which litter are you using?.

Oh she is sooo beautiful. She's a Chinchilla?
I had this with one of my ex breeding queens. Who had also lived in a pen. (It was a kitten farm.) but she only did it on the sofa. I tried all the sprays etc but nothing worked. The only thing that worked was puppy pads and physically blocking the date with my handbag or something. I never really got to the bottom of it. It starred again when she was In kidney failure.
I did wonder if it was due to her crap start in life. But her sister who Is still alive has never done it ever.

Might be worth getting bloods done. How old is she?

FenellaVelour · 15/08/2020 12:42

She’s a British shorthair, she’s now 9. I might ask the vets to do full bloods to be sure. It’s certainly not new behaviour but is definitely getting worse.

We use World’s Best litter, though thinking of using different litters in each tray.

Try sanicat gold. It is very soft on paws for the lady of refinement

Thanks, I’ve ordered some
