Letting dcat out

Dcat has not been bothered about leaving the garden for the last night 9 months. But she keeps escaping if we forget to shut the window/not quick enough with the gate. When she gets out she ends up under our car and won’t come in. Husband is getting annoyed that we can’t open the window without her pushing it open more to get out.

do we let her out? I fear she won’t come back 😩 plus we don’t have a cat flap, so how will she get in and out?

is she spayed? How busy is your area with cars?

Mummypig2020 · 13/08/2020 12:16

She was spayed at 3 months. It’s not a majorly busy road. It’s a back road people sometimes cut down. There are quite a few cats round here.

You can use flat cat window covers to stop them getting out but can she get into the back garden?

Mummypig2020 · 13/08/2020 16:06

Yeah, she spends most days just relaxing outside x

Get a cat flap

Start feeding her at 10pm. Let her out in the day and then call her in for dinner before you go to bed, and keep her in overnight.

You can get window restrictors/ ventilation locks so windows can’t be opened too far. I use them with my house cats.

Watching as we are in a similar position with our two cats a little bit older. Currently they go outside 'supervised' while we are outside a few times a day for upto a couple of hours. I'm not keen on keeping this up in the winter though. Then we bring them in. We can't have a cat flap as we are renting. They aren't very vocal either, I think because they were found at about 6 weeks and their mum was semi-ferral.

They are beginning to look at getting out of the back garden - which is fine, we live on a fairly quiet road for traffic. I'm also worried about them not coming back! I'm not sure why though!
