Those who had/have had fleas?

Hello. I am convinced we have a flea infestation but I can't find any evidence of them except a small cluster of bites on one of DH's ankles.

We have a cat who is regularly treated with Stronghold. Doesn't go out much (a walk around the garden when we're out then back in again). She was also treated at the vet's overnight recently and had to have her stomach, neck and arm shaved and they didn't mention fleas or flea dirt. Can't find anything on her.

Have checked her bedding and only found a large mosquito.

I am currently driving myself mad looking for evidence of fleas but have only found dead flies and mosquitoes (which could be the culprit).

Anyone who has had fleas, how did you realise they were there? Was the flea dirt obvious? Did you see eggs.

Thank you for any advice! I think I might be going mad.

Could you vacuum with some white socks on? Fleas like the noise so will jump onto your ankles.

Indorex is your friend, you spray it around once a year in your home and it kills fleas/eggs. It solved a large infestation i once had!

Sorry.. forgot to say the white socks make the fleas visible!

He could have got bites walking through grass, doesnt mean you have fleas. You could spray indorex in the house and that would kill anything in your carpets/upholstery

That could be it! I'm so dense. We spent almost all last weekend (Saturday and Sunday) at our local park and ate outside too. That's probably where they have come from!

Hi, you will know if your cat has fleas. They will be itchy & jumpy. They act differently, well my cat sure does! Check behind their ears & top of their tail too.

We knew as soon as we had them, cat and humans all scratching terribly. A good trick I used to get stragglers and check we had sort the infestation was to set a bowl with water and a touch of washing up liquid next to the couch/bed. A tea light is then set floating in the bowl overnight. The fleas see the light and jump towards it but can't get out of the slippery liquid and drown. I felt bad but it really was a handy way of getting the last stubborn few and I occasionally do it now to spot check
