How to start leaving kitten alone

Hi All

New to this section of mn. We got a 9 week old kitten last week, and he's settling in brilliantly.

I'm not ready to leave him alone at all yet, but wondered how people start doing it. He won't be alone at all during the week as I am starting a new wfh job, but we will at some point all be out of the house on the weekends.

When should I start? And how? Don't want to mess it up.

Lots of toys and snacks left out. Tbh he'll probably just go to sleep.

Obligatory photo's. His name is Rogelio (any Jane the Virgin fans will get it)

He's gorgeous.
Cats are much less bothered about being left than dogs.
Just make sure where you leave him is kitten proof and has access to water and litter tray. I tend to shut my kittens in a safe room until they're a few months old and have developed a bit more sense.

I meant to say I shut them in somewhere safe if they're going to be left alone for a while. They're not shut in one room for months!

Kittens can be left alone quite easily in a safe secure place with food and water and a litter tray. Cuddy toy maybe and a warm basket. That's all they need!

Thanks all. I know they don't need attention like dogs, but I didn't want to upset him. He probably will sleep, they do a lot more of that than I realised.

I have 3 cats. They sleep most of the day and most of the night! Waking up for food, toileting and a bit of fuss and play - usually mid morning and early evening Grin
