Anyone use Bravecto for cats?

I have two 9 month old cats and we live near woodland with deer so need to make sure they're covered for ticks. The vet has given me two Bravecto spot ons, but can anyone let me know if it's actually preventative for ticks via experience and as there's two of them who groom each other how long would you keep them separate for? Vet seems to think I should pop it on their necks and just let them out but instructions say it'll be 48 hours before it dries! Plus we have two children who I'll need to keep them away from.

A little confused so any advice welcome!

We use it for our cat (also near woodland), we just keep her in for an hour whilst it dries and then don't pet near the application site for a day or so.

It stays oily looking for a couple of days, so maybe that's what it means with the drying time, only issue we've had with it is bits of woodland stuff stuck to her occasionally when she comes home!

I use it, it's the only thing that works on my cat.

I used it on our two until one of them lost all the fur round his neck from the application point down... took months to grow back. I was told it was not uncommon. This was after we stopped with collars (see hunter cat thread) so wasn't a factor.
Haven't use it since. Back to Program jabs and Indorex.

I first used Bravecto a year or two ago and was appalled at the strong petrol-like smell, which lingered for days. It must have been horrible for a cat's sensitive nose. But it was pretty good at keeping ticks away for two months. In the third month he did get a few ticks. I think the flea protection of it is a bit more effective than the tick component, but I've found that with several spot-ons.

Yes. Our garden has lots of trees and woodland plants. They were covered in ticks in June. I was very careful to apply the stuff onto the skin area as much as possible, so keep moving the nozzle to new skin area on the back of the neck until there is none left.

Some obviously does get absorbed by the fur. It has worked a treat so far (2 months in). They don't have the inflamed areas from the ticks so even must be such a relief to them. One month left so efficacy for that remains to be seen.

Must add that they don't get any ticks to cause inflamed areas!

Thanks for the replies, I'll keep an eye on them both. Popped it on yesterday (I also do the fresh skin spot for a few applications so it doesn't run in their fur) and kept them apart a few hours and they've been out today and seem fine.

Three weeks ago we starting using bravecto plus on our 11 year old cat changed from avocate by our vets and i have to say i am going to request an alternative. When using the avocate we didnt have a single issue, this weekend alone we have found 23 fleas on our cat and he is still twitchy. Not satisfied at all. Causing our little man (Mash) some distress.
