I ran over my cat 😢

Felt a bump as I reversed into the drive. I'm at the vets now and she won't co-operate with the x ray but they can't feel any broken bones. They're scanning her to check for internal injuries and dosing her up with painkillers then I need to bring her back tomorrow for another check and possible x-ray. I feel like the worst person in the world. I have no idea how I'm going to tell my poor kids about this

My MIL didn't notice their black kitten asleep in the coal scuttle and threw the cat and coal into the solid fuel aga and shut the door. Not sure how she realised, but opened the door seconds later to and the cat few past her. The cat was fine as I think it landed on the top of the colder new coal.

I stabbed my dog with a knife whilst joking about stabbing him. Never play with knives. Dog still gets under my feet whilst cooking so it obviously hasn’t traumatised him too much.

We had a relatively peaceful night. Another check up this morning and the vet said she seems to have got away with just a nasty cut on her leg. She's sulking under the table with a cone on now. I can't tell you how relieved I am.

Thanks again everyone for your messages and scary but comforting tales of pet disasters!

It could be worse OP, I know of a child who was run over by her dad. Poor man.

Ratbagcatbag · 21/07/2020 09:29

@Chefwifelife I know I shouldn't laugh but I pictured your poor cat flying through the air and your DH looking horrified. (It's only amusing because all was well). What on earth did he say?

My dopey new boy who i have just adopted lost his leg last year after coming off worse to a car. Despite a huge garden, numerous beds, and lots of comfy spots, he still likes to lie in the middle of the road. 🙄

foamrolling · 21/07/2020 09:42

Her favourite spot is the end of our drive so she can solicit attention from anyone who passes by. I don't suppose this'll stop her doing it but I'll never forget to check the drive again.

@Ratbagcatbag he just looked at me wide-eyed while I shouted “don’t move, I will go get my cat” 😂

FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 21/07/2020 19:52

This is our worst nightmare, our stupid (darling) cat loves to go under cars that are about to move off and skulks on the drive when we leave and arrive.

Campingintheraintoday · 22/07/2020 15:29

Maybe paint a dcat on a traffic cone and plonk it on the drive?

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/07/2020 06:54

Is she ok?.

Toddler, Sad me too. About 25 years ago. Gave me a jolt to remember that.
foamrolling · 24/07/2020 08:58

Thanks for asking Fluffycloud, she's recovering well. Moving around much more easily now just a bit dopey from pain meds and mightily pissed off with the cone. She's also taking her antibiotics and pain meds like a little star which has surprised me.

I love the idea of a cat painted on a cone so may try that 😁

If it’s Metacam, our cat used to come running for it (dope addict kitty)

foamrolling · 24/07/2020 15:35

It is metacam yeah. She's happy to take her antibiotics too though which has pleasantly surprised me.

My dog managed to run up the road just after we got him. There was a squeal of brakes and by the time I got there, he had one paw under the wheel and his head in the wheel arch Shock. He needed sedation to clean up his paw, but other than that, he was fine.
