Health plan - worth it?

All being well, we will be picking up our rescue baby tomorrow! She is 2 but other than that we don’t know much about her. We haven’t been able to meet her yet due to COVID restrictions.
When we had a cat before we just took him for his annual check up/jabs and did his flea and worming treatments ourselves, but I’m wondering if paying for the health plan at the vets would work out better. Can someone tell me a bit more about them please? Is it a faff taking them to the vets every month? (Our boy hated the vets, although I’m sure most cats do!), what happens if you accidentally miss a treatment etc?

We have a pet health plan for our cats through our vet's. We only have to take them every six months for a check (which they don't seem to mind - though Biscuit hates the car!). We usually pick up six months worth of flea/wormer each time we go so we don't need to go back each month for that. I find it much easier than our previous cat (several years ago with a different vet) because I know what money is going out when, and don't have to remember that vaccines are coming up that need paying for!

Also, congratulations on your new boss cat!

We have the health plan on top of insurance. With out vets it's £18 for that you get all your flea and worm treatment, vaccinations, quarterly check ups, 40% reduction on an prescription and 40% off emergency consultations. Our vets is the next town over (rural) but they have a separate cat area with plug ins and sprays plus blankets to place over the cat boxes. They really are fantastic.

Great, thank you all. Bringing the treatments home makes more sense than taking the cat in every month! Grin we are so excited!

Fab advice, thank you! Our boy used to hate them too so that’s a good plan.

Of course! Thank you :)
