What kind of cat is this?

Heard cats fighting, so looked out the window and saw this cat just as it literally threw the other cat off the roof of the shed. The other cat ran away, I hope it’s okay, I did go out to look but it was nowhere to be seen. This cat is huge, literally the biggest cat I have seen. Any ideas on what type of breed it might be?

A bully?

Sorry I have no idea.

CockCarousel · 14/07/2020 06:38

Could be a Maine Coon with tortie markings? They're one of the largest breeds.

Anordinarymum · 14/07/2020 06:42

It could be a Bengal. They are very big, and rough

My own cat came home one day last week with a ripped ear. He has been neutered and isn’t a fighting cat. Seeing this makes me think he had an encounter with this large cat. I live in a little village so wondering if it’s worth a post in our local fb group, or a case of cats will be cats?

I don’t think he’s a Bengal, I once had a gorgeous snow leopard Bengal, he was quite a bully come to think of it. Do you get long haired bengals?

It's just a large cat. I've seen a huge one near me occasionally but think it is just an ordinary moggie.

These are Maine Coons:

Even small cats scrap quite viciously. Hopefully the other cat is OK and if there are any bite marks, its owners will take it to the vet.

I was a cat owner for years and one cat particularly would come home occasionally with a bite or even a claw embedded. He was a big boy but not anywhere near Maine Coon size, they are exceptionally huge.

It may not happen again so don't worry.

Hard to tell. You can get longhair bengals in America but I haven’t seen them here & hope not to.

Tbh it looks like a long hair moggy. Coons have long legs & tufts on their ears but he’s got small neat ears.

vanillandhoney · 14/07/2020 13:12

He looks like my male cat - just a different colour. He's just a domestic long hair - nothing exciting! The vet reckons there could be some Maine Coon in there somewhere but I don't care enough to pay for a DNA test.

He is a big boy (weighs almost 10kg).

Norwegian Forest Cat?

Shmithecat2 · 14/07/2020 13:18

Probably a Maine Coon mix. I have one, and he often gets mistaken for a dog at first glance because he's quite big, approx 8-9kg.

OohKittens · 14/07/2020 13:24

Not a norweigan forest they are very affectionate. It is just a long haired moggy next door to me have one exactly like this.

Want2beme · 14/07/2020 15:01

Looks like a longhaired tabby to me.
