abandoned? Pregnant cat

not me! But my friends neighbour has two cats one is between 8/10 years old and her owner never really looked after her she was "fed" but never enough and constantly pregnant usually by her sons who are given away to the neighbours and they didn't bother getting them fixed she also has one of her unneutered sons living in the same house however the family split and took the cat away she is sweet natured but a pita because she is always hungry/full of fleas etc family got together she was bought back family split again she and her son are left behind

The thing is the ex boyfriend isn't really taking care of them the neighbour has bunged her the odd bit of food treated her for fleas and worms but he seems to be hoping they will piss off and find another home thry have not and she is pregnant again

Neighbour has contacted the owner who said they were homeless and it was my brothers cat I will talk to him....cat is still here rspca have done sod all it has been reported and reported and nothing

Did I mention she is pregnant? Her last litter died because she wasn't being fed and refused to look after them

Who is the best to call under these circumstances or shall we just shuffle her away under the radar if we can find her a loving home? Even cats protection said the OWNER needs to turn her in but the owner is "not me" "someone else" "his/her responsibility"

She is TINY very sweet and just wants a cuddle

Take her away! Today if possible. Then give to a rescue with a story about having found her in the street somewhere nowhere near where she really came from.

Where in the country are you?

thecatneuterer · 05/07/2020 17:49

And the other cat too.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/07/2020 17:53

Yes I’d just take them away. It must be miserable for them being out in all weathers and pregnant.

willowmelangell · 05/07/2020 17:59

Oh God what an awful situation! If she has no owner, then can a charity take her in as a stray? I say, no owner, as no-one is taking responsibility of her. Poor darling girl.

I'm in the West Midlands if anyone has any recommendations?

I'm leaning towards removing if I can find a home my friend wants to wait for the owner to do the right thing but I'm of the opinion enough is enough now I can give her food but with three indoor cats of my own I just don't have the space or she would have been moved to my house by now

I've just remembered. When I took my first, strolled into my house girl cat, I took her to the vet for her neutering, i said why is she so small? Vet examined her and said, she had kittens so young that all her growth went into her kittens. That she would never grow to normal cat size.
Broke my heart. She is still small.

slipperywhensparticus · 05/07/2020 18:18

This one is still kitten size too

I'm afraid I don't have any particular recommendations in that area, but a full list of local rescues can be found here www.catchat.org

Most rescues are reluctant to knowingly break the law, but would, in reality, be very happy for you to lie to them in these circumstances - which is what you need to do.

Why does your friend feel like that? Does she worry about getting into trouble? That won't happen. The owners don't appear to care anyway so are hardly likely to do anything about it even if they knew, and, if they tried, they wouldn't get anywhere as nothing can be proved and no one would go to the trouble of looking into it.

Or does she worry about the owners' feelings? As above, it doesn't sound as though they care. And even if they did, the cat is suffering. Are their hypothetical feelings more important than the physical well being of the cats and kittens?

I agree with you I'm calling rescues this week I've put out a call to my friends in the meantime see if anyone can help

I rescued a neglected cat. Made a deal with the "owner". Sadly it involved cold hard cash, the only thing she understood.
It was a case of i ll take her off your hands for £50 or someone will probably call the RSPCA.
Had a wonderful cat for many years.

slipperywhensparticus · 07/07/2020 20:31

Update!

Spoke to the man of the house who they were left with (who wasn't taking care of them) he wanted them gone but he wouldn't contact a rescue neither did the so called owner (who is still MIA) so I called and they were collected today I feel guilty I couldn't take her in as she is a bit old (and pregnant) but I have three big black boy cats (neutered but twice her size!!) We are just not the best home for her under the circumstances her son was collected at the same time (big beautiful grey cat) he is not even two i can't see him staying too long

And that's it we are all a bit sad about it but its a no kill place if she can't rehome them she has permanent residence cats too even outdoor/barn cats

She is in the best place Sad

You’ve done the right thing, they’ll find owners with a backstory like this.

slipperywhensparticus · 07/07/2020 23:08

Thanks, its the first time I've really had to call in a rescue I removed the last cat in need into my house as a temporary measure until I could get him rehomed properly 2 years later he is still here! (Long story short I have his two brothers his "forever" owner decided to wack him on Facebook free at 6 months old because she couldn't cope I grabbed him not wanting him to go to someone unsafe thinking I could castrate him and use cats protection to remove him from my house and he never left 😳 good job i don't run rescue centres)
