Cat proof door mesh?

We are hoping to get two cats - a mum and her kitten (5 months). We will need to keep them indoors for a few weeks and I'm very worried about having to keep the back door closed. Not sure my peri menopausal self can cope. Is there such a thing as a mesh that we can attach to the door on a temporary basis that will keep them in but allow the door to be open and air to circulate? I've seen insect screens on eBay but not sure if they're pet proof.

This was all supposed to happen ages ago when it was cooler and wouldn't have been a problem but now I'm wondering whether we have to turn them down.

Flat cats website does them, you can get them for windows too.

There’s a sale section too for cancelled orders.

Another alternative if Flat Cats proves a bit expensive as a short term solution is to get cat proof netting - Trixie is a good make. If you can attach hooks either side of the door frame you can hook the netting on that, or you can use tension rods to attach it across the door frame/floor to ceiling. I use this method for my french doors, as I couldn't afford tailor made Flat Cats for such a big area when I got the cats. However I use Flat Cats in my windows (indoor only cats) and they aren't just great for letting the breeze in but the keep the majority of the insects out too!

I bought an insect screen yesterday as a test to try and get the patio door open. Our kitten is currently indoors as she hasn't been neutered yet so she is quite wild but it's so hot in here and she is a thick coated breed, I was very worried about her overheating

Within about 3 minutes she'd completely scaled the netting and had got out through the side. I therefore wouldn't recommend spending your money on a netting type thing!

I will look into the website mentioned above though, if they are specifically designed to be cat proof!

Great info. Thanks. I'll investigate.
