Ear's blocked with wax

I wonder if anyone has any experience with ear wax in cats?

Our 17 year old has terrible waxy build up in her ears. Much worse in the right one. The vet has tested the wax three times and has confirmed it's nothing sinister, not an infection, just wax and as advised us to clean it once a week with saline solution which we do (but she hates).

This morning she seems very confused. Her right ear is pointed back and she keeps looking to her right. We cleaned it out and there was a lot of wax. More than usual.

I fear that she might be completely blocked now. The vet is only open for emergencies because of Covid and they are next to useless anyway.

Does anyone else have experience in cat's with ear wax? How do you handle it? Did the vet's offer any kind of procedure? We tried to change her diet but that didn't seem to work.

I would go to a pharmacy and get olive oil ear drops they should normally be on the shop floor. Don't tell the staff it's for a cat as they won't be allowed to sell it to you for animal use

If you don’t 100% trust your vet find another because life’s too short to pay out for lacklustre advice. I’d wonder if it was an ear mite or bacterial infection too but you need to ring a vet tomorrow to see if they think it’s a problem.

I took departed boy 17 miles to the vet my parents used because I trusted them.

17 year old cat I would wonder if there is a polyp in the ear causing all these problems.
I would consider a cat with a slight head tilt an urgent case as it could be something more concerning give them a call.
