Cat suddenly not eating/just sleeping on bed

He's 3 year olds and generally very happy and healthy. Last 24 hours he seems depressed and lethargic, has only eaten some dreamies, just sleeping on our beds.

I've booked the vets tomorrow but I'm freaking out. He's my daughter's emotional support since her dad died and we can't lost him, she's so depressed on lockdown already.

Any ideas? Anyone else's cat do this and get better? Could it just been the rain making him fed up?

Mine occasionally do this for no reason - I rush them off to the vets who gives them a clean bill of health. A vets visit is always a good idea in these circumstances.

Cats can be like children - you take them to the doctors and they bounce around whilst you are explaining how they have no energy!

Thanks for replying @Parker231. I feel like losing him would tip my 9 year old over the edge so it's hard to be rational!

I’d visit the vets too, mine was a bugger for infections.

Last time one of ours did this it was something minor and easy to treat so try not to panic. She'd been bitten and the bite had become infected. We hadn't noticed as it was deep in the fur on the back of her neck so not making her limp. A course of painkillers and antibiotics and she was right as rain.

Fingers crossed it'll be nothing or nothing serious with your puss. Good luck at the vets tomorrow.

Actually his eye looked a bit floppy yesterday, could well be infection I guess

I wouldnt sit on it tbh. Ive had a horrible experience recently and feel terribly guilty i never took him in the day before. It might be an infection if it is id be wanting to start treating it now. Its probably an off day, fingers crossed.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/06/2020 13:43

Did you tell them the eyes deflated?.

Grobagsforever · 18/06/2020 18:56

He's just dramatically limped downstairs and taken himself off for a walk. Injured paw I think! I'll take him to get checked tomorrow but he's eaten 1.5 meals and managed to jump up on the compost so I think he's on the mend.

@Fluffycloudland77 sorry I meant gunky, not floppy! Eye looks clear now

I bet he’s been in a scrap and got himself a paw bite injury.

Is he holding it up with an air of “feels expensive” 😀

@Fluffycloudland77 and the minute you get to the vet, he'll jump off the table and run around absolutely fine!

Yes, happened to me when I rang in tears just before closing and they stayed late to see him.
