Feline Lymphoma

My cat had a tumour removed from his bowel 4 and a half weeks ago, histology results diagnosed high grade lymphoma. He had his first oral chemotherapy treatment 2 weeks ago. No side effects, last weeks blood results were good and he has also gained 300g. He has his second treatment in a weeks time.
Does anyone have any idea how long the length of treatment is. Also after the next treatment he will have another ultrasound scan and x rays to re-grade the cancer. Does this mean it could change to low grade?
Any advice would be much appreciated 🙏

Low ( small cell) and high grade ( large cell) lymphoma are two slightly different diseases and one does not change into the other. In general with oral chemotherapy in cats we tend to keep going whilst it works. This tends to be much, much longer for small cell lymphoma ( years) than large cell lymphoma ( months).

@Lonecatwithkitten thank you for answering. Does this mean that my boy will not go into remission and won't live long? 😔

Remission with large cell ( high grade) is unlikely with the tablet chemo there is a chance with the intravenous drugs vincristine and doxyrubicin ( CHOP protocol) but it is much more demanding on the cat. Large cell lymphoma is very aggressive and sadly no the prognosis is not great.
