Worms in a cat when they usually have a prescription

Usually I give my cat (Female, 7 years old) a prescription strength flea and wormer 4 times a year. In order to get this on prescription I take her to the vets in April or May every year where they do a general health check. I then get the prescriptions £5 cheaper for the 3x I need it after I’ve taken her in (Costs me £10 per time instead of £15, health check is £45 and includes vaccines and one dose of flea and wormer given by the vet). This is the only flea and wormer I’ve found that my cat is not allergic to and doesn’t get fleas or worms from anyway.

Because of Covid the vets have suspended none urgent treatment, so my cat hasn’t been seen by a vet. They gave me a none prescription flea and wormer as they can’t prescribe the usual one due to her not having her usual check up. She had a reaction this and vomited everywhere after I put the liquid on her food (like told by the vet, her usual one is a spot on the back of the neck) – vet is certain from pictures that it’s a reaction to the treatment.

Vets have suggested a few other products plus supermarket ones to tide her over, but thinks she’s picked up worms anyway (asked for pictures of her litter tray before I cleaned it out).

They are refusing to see her to prescribe the usual one she has as they’ve said that even if she doesn’t get rid of the worms she can manage for a few more weeks until they can re-open properly.

She’s my baby (after my actual DC of course) and I really want to help her as she’s obviously uncomfortable – constantly asking for food, using the litter tray a lot, howling at night. This is the nearest vets to me, I’ve rung the next nearest vet but they’re not taking on new patients atm and again won’t prescribe without having seen her. I am going to try other vets but expect to get told the same thing.

Is there anything people recommend to get rid of the worms just until I can get her to the vets? She;s allergic to the bob martin ones so avoiding those, but anything else people recommend that can be picked up quite easily? I can get to Morrisons, Aldi and Tesco, plus the vets will post out none prescription medication to me if they can get it too.

Thanks

I'm a bit surprised that they wouldn't prescribe her normal treatments without a full checkup, as usually the only important thing for that is the weight as the dosages vary with weight.

I know that many vets have started to relax some of their restrictions e.g. mine will do neuterings if circumstances mean it's necessary (e.g. 2 young cats opposite sexes in the same house), they prescribe regular meds , and they will do the regular health checks via video consultations. Could you ask if they will do a video health check assessment then let you get your treatment?
