Cottage Russian Blues - any experience?

Does anyone have any knowledge of these breeders? The website looks ok but understand people can write anything on the internet. link

Are they GCCF registered?

Also I would want to see the dams and sires as well as be certain they were not a production line in terms of litters
You should see the mother with the kittens
Ideally the father too or info on him

Pedigree certificates
Kittens checked, first vaccs etc
Parents health history

The website doesn’t mention a vet check or vaccinations or dna screening for breed health problems.

Also saying kitten arrive regularly but their not a production line?.

Yes that seemed like an oxymoron to me too - is it one or the other? They either have regular kittens to churn them out or they don’t.

That aside, if anyone has experience of Russian blue breeders they’ve done well with it would be much appreciated.

Also, cat people - GCCF is the preferred registry in the U.K.? Does it have different rules/guidelines than TICA? As in, a breeder who resisters with GCCF is more likely to have higher welfare etc?

GCCF is British TICA is international
Both parents need to be TICA registered or GCCF for any kittens to be registered

My understanding is TICA is more flexible than GCCF in that you can show without initially registering unlike GCCF but I could be wrong?

Would hope both promote and monitor highest welfare and breed standards amongst cat owners they admit.

All of my cats were / are GCCF registered as kittens as were their parents

Somewhere like this might be a good place to start for breeders as it is through the GCCF.

A house by the looks of it, Toddlerteaplease. It doesn’t look like they’ve gone to much effort to reassure prospective owners by not mentioning vet checks or vaccinations etc, so I think I will try to dissuade the family from this particular breeder. I’ve apologised to them for being cynical and suspicious and I know they’d rather have a cat sooner than later but I couldn’t bear watching an animal come into the home if it’s come from dubious circumstances.

It doesn't appear that the kittens are vaccinated before leaving the breeder, so that would make me wary. Also no mention of them staying with their mum until 13 weeks, (unless I missed that).

I would go to another breeder tbh

Spending a lot of money on a cat shouldn’t be rushed just because you want a kitten.

They should do their research thoroughly.
I spent six months looking for my first two cats and several for my third too. Both times I had quite lengthy car journeys to make too. I also went and visited them before I went back again to pick them up

Also a good breeder won’t just hand a kitten over.

What you don’t want is a kitten that’s got a long term health problem brewing from the parents or is ill.
