Kitten's tummy

Hi all, my Bengal kitten is 14 weeks old, and has been with me since 8 weeks. He was weaned by his breeder onto dry Pure Canin for kittens, which he loves and has always agreed with him. However, he sometimes seems to have soft stools, starting out (sorry TMI!) normal consistency, but the end of the stool is soft and can be a little mucousy with a bit of red in. I have to wipe him sometimes, as this mucous/ slight bit of blood can be left on him. He doesn't seem in any pain, goes once a day like clockwork, and happily buries his business in the litter tray.

Does this indicate a tummy problem? Should I get him on some probiotics? He's my first kitten, so I'm not sure what's normal, and my vets haven't responded to me yet.

Thanks in advance Smile

Does he always have red in his stool? I'm not 100% sure myself but i think a call to the vet for advice would be appropriate! It could be a stomach problem.

We had a Bengal, their systems don’t like cereal but are ok with potato ie Arden grange is potato and meat.

Try him on cereal free food and see if he firms up.

Is he up to date with worming? Even if he's never been outside yet he could have caught them from Mum or siblings.
Otherwise as pp have said, I'd look into diet, and get some advice from the vet.
(I see you've contacted them already and are waiting for a reply).

It's not uncommon, and doesn't need an emergency app, but it's worth keeping an eye on and seeing what vet says if it doesn't clear up.

Our kitten had the same and vet prescribed Pancur wormer for three days. This can be bought online.

Same, except ours had the runs/soft poo a few times a day, then there was blood in it, a course of panacur sorted her out and a basic diet for a week or so.

Thank you, looks like panacur is the way to go! Looking online - does it matter whether it's the worming syrup or granules?

We had the granules and added to wet food.

We had liquid and a syringe, mixed into wet food and she ate it all up no problem
