Advice with kitten and litter tray

Got a kitten a week ago. She was 8 weeks and 4 days old when we got her last Sunday. She has settled in our house very well and in particular I was pleasantly surprised (and relieved) that she started using the litter tray right away. I use cats best litter and scoop out clumps and poos daily. This morning I noticed 2 unburied poos in the tray. I made the mistake of not scooping them out right away. Moments later I saw the kitten going in and out of her tray a few times and then going to do a wee on the bed. It's the first accident she's had since we got her. So my question as a first time cat owner is could she have been put off using the tray by the 2 unburied poos (even though it's a big tray and the rest of it was clean?).

Yes it can put them off if the tray isnt clean.

Cats are mysterious.

She might have been, but she may also have thought that the bed was like the blanket in the pen she grew up in so just as good a place as the litter tray, or the bed smelled of you so a nice place to do a wee!

She's only little so might just be making mistakes while she gets started and gets to feel confident in her new home.

I had one cat who thought any textile was a good place for a wee for about a year - so no rugs, no towels or washing left on the floor until eventually I caught him mid-pee and told him off and we never had another accident. But it took a whole year to catch him actually in the moment and not just after.

Usually cats have a poo zone and a wee zone in their litter bins so if the bin is big enough it should be OK.

Obviously none of us can really comment WITHOUT A PICTURE Smile

Trying to attach picture! I really hope it's a one off. She's been so good so far.
