Anyone else feel like they've really bonded during lockdown?

Obviously I absolutely adored Snorg before all this. But she's become my shadow now I'm home more. She sits on my knee, and comes for cuddles more than she's ever done before. She's also getting more chatty. It's lovely!

That's lovely. No cat of my own but my friends say their cat is definitely enjoying the 24hr servant availability. My nephew's cat is also happy.

yes! mine is a next-to-me cat but actually got on my lap the other day, looked a bit confused and got off again. he’s a rescue, got him at 6 months, he’s 3 now and my only company now i’m shielding.

i think he’s sick of the sound of my voice, which is hypocritical as he never shuts up himself. he’s gone from totally silent to a rumbly purr, lots of chirps and beeps and boops, and he SHOUTS if i leave the room.

he also chats me up for dreamies. i’ve taught him to give me a paw to get them, so now when he decides it’s snack time he follows me around bonking his paw on my feet. paw = treats. he’s not stupid.

here he is in a bowl. he is gigantic, and kind of rare as he’s dark brown with green eyes and rosy pink toe beans, which i think means that there’s quite a lot of Havana Brown in him. i love him SO MUCH.

helloPig he's gorgeous, and reminds me a fair bit of my Boycat (except Boycat is aka thick-as-shit-cat).

Boycat is acting the way he always did at weekends before lockdown, but Girlcat has got MUCH more demanding and cuddly. Got to the stage that she sits beside me pawing at my chair when I'm on the PC, though the pawing stops for a bit if I stroke her head with one hand & do PC stuff with the other. And every night she snuggles between me and the back of the sofa for a cuddle, curled round with her head resting on my leg (have my legs up on sofa for this) so I can bury my hand in her tummy & chest floof.

What a fabulous cat hellopig, a real beauty and clever too.
My cat is attached to me at the hip. I've had her for 19 years and just bought her a load of new catnip toys.
She decided she wanted to play with them all very noisily at 4am and insisted I look at them. There is nothing like a wet and chewed toy being shoved in your face at the crack of dawn.
She's very deaf so is always going round the house looking for me yelling at the top of her voice.
If I ignore her she jumps up and belts me round the face with her paw. I love her so much.

He is gorgeous, and looks very smug in his bowl!

Ollie is mostly throwing himself on the floor dramatically because the human is STILL HOME
I've realised how much he sleeps in the day and suspect when I'm at work he probably just sleeps straight through BlushGrin

Toddlerteaplease · 13/05/2020 14:58

Yes. I didn't realise just how much Cheddar sleeps. She's on my bed all day, I'm
Not really sure why I'm surprised, but I am!

They do say average about 15 hours in every 24 for an adult cat is sleep. Boycat definitely sleeps more than Girlcat, and I would say he's more 18 hours in 24 unless they are up ALL night.

Both are snuggled together on my bed at the mo, and have been for at least 3 hours - Girlcat was wandering about a bit like a bored teenager before they went up, but Boycat just relocated from an igloo downstairs to my bed upstairs.

Milly, pictured mid afternoon kip has become very attached during lockdown as I'm working from home. It has increased her confidence & I've loved having the chance to watch her grow up as shes only 7.5 months. Hopefully getting her companion kitten next week but I do wonder as to whether she will struggle with my not being at home when I'm back in the office full time as usual.

Not if she takes to the companion.

purdypuma · 13/05/2020 20:50

Yeah I'm hoping shes still young enough for it not to be an issue. I was going to adopt from a local rescue but adoptions are on hold due to corona virus. Luckily a girl at work has a female thats had 2 accidental litters very close together (think the mum managed to get pregnant whilst already pregnant but not sure) & she now has 10 kittens to find homes for! So I've said I'll have 1 of the 4 ginger males & shes not charging me. Should be ready next week at 8 weeks & will be called Casper. Then it's back to square one with another hyperactive kitten destroying my house!Grin

My cat can’t leave me alone and loves lockdown. The dog not so much as he is a nervous rescue and finds everyone being here too overwhelming.
