Hello there, it's been 10 years or so since I had a cat and we're planning to home a couple of one year old sisters when they're ready to leave their litters in a few weeks.

I used to give my cat Science Diet, with some wet food I think but can't really remember the details.

Got a bit confused online trying to work out what the current recommendations re: wet/dry are.

What do you feed your cats on?

TIA

Go for as high a meat content as you can afford and avoid grains and filers. We feed ours a mix of wet and dry and both are in good health and during checkups the vets comment on how healthy their coats are, one of them is also very fussy!
They have Purizon dry from Zooplus, recently changed from Applaws because one was getting a little chubby and Purizon do a lower fat version. The wet is a mix of Applaws and Blink. The Applaws tins aren’t a complete food so can’t be used on their own. We get the Blink on subscription which works out cheaper.

I buy Orijen directly from their website. Used to buy from Zooplus. Purizon is also good but I prefer Orijen. They have lots of flavours and they now do a fitness one for cats who need to watch their weight

I've fed mine Felix (now AGAIL) for years.

Despite the general mockery of 'branded' cat foods on MN my last two cats lived very healthy lives to 17 and 20 respectively and my current lot have had no ill effects so far either.

I buy purizon dry food from zooplus - you can buy some small bags to trial first for flavours. Also have applaws and lilys kitchen. Have just ordered some Arden Grange to try.
Wet food I buy tins of butchers classic, sheba pouches, felix as good as it looks and natures menu. To be honest I struggled to get wet food down them and wish they would eat more of it.

I feed mine the only food they will eat - Felix AGAIL and Royal Canin dry. Think this is because they were feral pre-rescue so these were the only regular foods they get.

Luckily they are self-regulating, so I give them smallish amounts of wet (1.5 pouches a day between them) and dry is always topped up and available 24/7.

But initially you'll need to feed them whatever they have been weaned on, and change their diet slowly to prevent tummy upsets of a very messy order!

Thanks all. Yes, I messaged the rescue centre re what they're eating now.

They're not newly weaned (they're one with litters themselves) but yes did think we should start them on what they're used to.

Centre feeds Felix/good quality cry and 'lots of chicken' apparently!

We feed ours Applaws. They have the wet food a couple of days a week and they love all of their meals. In fact, we've just transitioned them from kitten to adult dry food and my boy cat loves the new flavour so much that he stayed in a little more for the first week so that he didn't miss his meal times. I buy it on Bitiba or Zooplus as it's much cheaper than in the pet shops and I buy a few months' worth each time.

My girl cat doesn't like the cold so we had to reduce the amount she had in the winter months as she was developing a little pouch on her tummy...

Our cat is a 8 year old rescue and will only eat Felix pouches and GoCat dry food. When she first arrived we tried her with some fancy fresh cat food which she turned her nose up at and refused to eat even after 2 days of having no food! I called the cats protection volunteer that had been fostering her and she told me what to buy
