Help! Bald patch and wound on cat's leg

Looking for some advice, with the current situation I don't know whether we need to take the cat to the vet's? His name's Mylo, approximately 2 years old and we got him 6 months ago as another rescue after our much loved 10 year old boy Billy died. A couple of months before Billy died he had an abscess on his leg but he couldn't put weight on that leg. Billy did recover from the abscess but had pancreatic cancer too which we didn't know until it was too late.

Mylo's cleaned the fur off his leg so it's bald and we can see a wound but he's happy running about still, chasing birds and wolfing food as always. Should we just keep an eye, try and clean it(can't see him allowing that!) or get in touch with the vets?

Pictures attached, he looks fierce but he's friendly really!

That doesn't look at all serious. I would just keep an eye on it for now.

Is it wet or dry? I’d bathe in salt water for now and ring the vets.

@thecatneuterer Thanks for your reply, I thought that was the case and can reassure the kids now just to keep a watch on it.

@Fluffycloudland77 thanks for replying, it's dry and scabbed, going to keep an eye on him and will see if he will let one of the kids bathe it. Worry more about the cat than the kids!

If it’s dry don’t bathe it, you don’t want to soften the scab. If he takes the scab off and it’s wet bathe it then.

If there is still pus in there you need to bath it with salt water so the scab comes off to allow the pus out.

if you are happy there is no pus leave it to heal.

@cabbageking do appreciate you replying, honestly I worry more about the cat than the kids at times, can't see any pus so will watch and wait. Been a member for years and rarely post but the Litter Tray are knowledgeable about our feline friends.
