What is fairest for cats during their owners hospital stay

They are in the cattery which I did when Mummy went into hospital

My brother asked about getting them fostered but I'm worried about them getting used to a new home and then being re-homed properly when Mummy dies

Is it fairer for them to stay in the cattery or should I get them re-homed sooner?

I'm all in a bit of a muddle

Re-home if your confident they won’t have a home to go to soon.

I’m so sorry, it sounds an awful time for you. Have you tried the cinnamon trust?.

I’m really sorry to read this op. I am tagging @thecatneuterer who works in rescue and may have advice

Depends how long they will need to stay. If it was my cars I'd put them in the cattery. If it was going to be very long term, they'd probably go to my friend.

I don't suppose there's someone who could pop in, feed and fuss them (if they'd want that) every day?

If you know rehoming is an eventuality though, I'd look into getting that done sooner rather than later.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mum. Flowers

Sorry about your situation OP.

If you don't think the cats will ever be able to go back home then I would try to get them rehomed sooner rather than later. It's quite difficult to find foster homes in any case and it's probably easier for rescues to rehome. And of course cats hate being in catteries.

It is the cattery they use - so they are reasonably content there

I feel very out of control

If they won't be going home again and you or your family members aren't going to take them in, then I think re-homing is the best thing to do now. Though this may not be the easy option at the moment. Do the cattery owners have any re-homing contacts? Are you near Battersea Dogs & Cats rescue home? Celia Hammond? I personally wouldn't contact RSPCA.

I hope you manage to find them a lovely home for them. Your having to cope with a lot just nowFlowers

for them You're!

KatyMac · 25/04/2020 16:43

sadly they are very old - we have FAITH near my Mum's so I'll talk to them on Mon so until something is decided we will keep them at the cattery rather than rush to move them to the shelter

I reckon lots of pets will need re-homing Sad
