Cat urinating on her bed - 3rd time!

We adopted two cats a month ago - first time owners - just found their bed wet again for the third time in about a week and a half. The first two times were after we had hoovered so assumed they were scared of the Hoover. Tonight there seems to be no obvious reason for it.

Bed has been washed and dried each time before putting it back. The litter tray has been due a clean so possibly putting it down to that? I can't pinpoint which cat it is but I have a suspicion it's the younger of the two - about 10-11 months.

Any advice on how to prevent her doing it again appreciated! Smile

If they like a scrupulously clean tray and it’s not they will refuse to use it.

For 2 cats you’ll need three trays and a litter that’s not rough on paws. Ultraclumping usually works because the grains are fine and don’t hurt them. Mine refused to use crystal and looking back it must have been like treading on Lego bricks for him.

If they wee outside the tray it’s them trying to communicate there’s a problem.

It can also be a urine infection, they can get these with no other obvious symptoms.

Hopefully a nice clean tray will resolve it for you.

Thanks Fluffy. They do just have the one tray between them so will look at additional ones. Their litter is catsan non clumping as that's what they had in the cattery.

Fingers crossed we can get this resolved! Smile

My cat did this when I first got him. I bought a spray from the pet shop which stopped him going back to my bed. He then started using the litter tray

Get some cat enzyme spray and soak bedding in that before washing a couple of times. Normal washing often doesn't remove the smell, and they smell it and wee again. The urine is a stress signal usually. Try getting some Feliway. It's a synthetic cat hormone that chills them out. Spray some on the bed (you can also get a diffuser), and they should start associating the bed with relaxation, as the pheromone is the one they rub onto things when happy.

Also get checked out by vet in case it's a urine infection. And yes, they are fastidious about litter trays.

Thanks, will try the enzyme cleaner and a feliway spray. First plan of action is to ensure the litter tray is cleaned more often and see what happens!
