Lump on my cat’s nose

We adopted our cat a year ago, the centre said she was about 4.5 years old at the time.

I am worried about a lump that has appeared on her nose. I have only noticed it in the last couple of days, I think it’s pretty new. I have added a photo from last June and one today.

What do you think? I’d take her to a vet to ask but I’m not even sure if they’re open for this kind of thing.

Is it like a spot or boil under her skin? Or is it more like she’s got a Roman nose? I ask because my can has a profile just like like that, but it’s just how his nose is. Could you do a picture from face on?

Vets are only seeing emergencies however they are doing telephone consults and are accepting photos. I would give them a call, it looks like that was there in the 1st photo and is bigger now.

You can’t really see anything from face on, I can’t get a good photo.

Is there anything it could be that is less scary than what Google said when I searched?

Sorry I cant help but what a beautiful cat!

TheoriginalLEM · 10/04/2020 07:40

Many things, an old injury, a cyst, a benign mass, etc . The reason I'd want it checked is because if where it is, if it gets bigger and needs removing there isn't much spare skin.

Vet will likely advise to monitor, can you take another pic in a week to compare.

Oh, I just remembered she did get a scratch on her nose ages ago, I assumed from one of the local cats who weren’t very pleased to have her turn up in our garden. Could it be flaring up now for some reason?

And thank you, I’ll give the vets a call later.

She is also actually due her vaccinations so maybe they would see her if they are doing vaccinations?

I doubt their doing vaccinations but there is a grace period on them anyway.

Kubo · 10/04/2020 09:50

Yes, after I posted I reread LEM’s post that said they were only taking emergencies and thought vaccinations were unlikely.

Just spoken to someone at the vets who offered a telephone consultation but suggested if it wasn’t bothering her just to keep an eye on it. I said I’d take more photos and call again later.

But now I’m worrying again. It doesn’t seem to be hurting her (I’ve given it a good prod without her snapping at me). Is that enough to not worry for now?

She said three months over is ok for the vaccinations.

I don’t know, I think constant worry is just life now. You can’t do anything about it right now.

If anything changes you can always ring back.

I wish animals could talk.

I think constant worry is just life now

Ain’t that the truth.

That's my little Cara. Face just swelled up, rushed her to the vet, infection caused by what I think may have been another cat bite (all cats are house cats) skin fell off and she's now left looking like this!

Oh my gosh poor little Cara!

Argh, I don’t know what to do.

I think your cat will be ok. Cara was seen by the vet twice as an emergency. Keep your eye on the lump and if nothing changes don't worry x
