Silly question about wood pellet litter

I currently use Intersand Classic, which I love for the most part. The only thing I hate about it is the tracking. It just gets everywhere, and as it's light in colour as is my floor so difficult to see (but easy to feel under foot)

One of my cats is very fussy, and if the trays are not to his liking (he tries them all out before deciding which one to do his business in), he gets a right bag on.

I like the current litter because it's so easy to clean out, but I'm at my wits end with the tracking. As on of mine is so fussy, I'm wondering how easy the pellets are to keep clean? How easy is it to tell which ones have been peed on and remove them?

I have tried the litter mats to reduce tracking, they help slightly but not enough.

I'm thinking wood pellets are atleast easier to spot before they spread across the floor!

nope - they are the worst for tracking. the pellets break down to fine dust once peed on. I loved it apart from tracking. Now use clumping

I had this problem too. I liked that the wood pellets kept the odour very low but little bits of sawdust got everywhere. I was even getting sawdust up the stairs and in the bedrooms because the cat would flick it everywhere and then the kids walk through it.

I have to say I've switched back to clumping clay (now that it's back in stock in most places). I find it smellier and it needs changing much more often, but at least it stays in one place.

If anyone can offer a solution to the tracking I'd also like to know it.

Dust everywhere and my cat developed a cough which the vet said was due to breathing in the dust. Moved back to catsan or similar when it’s available on top of a layer of silica crystals.

You need a robo hoover to clean all the litter up.

Oh no, didn't know about the dust! Glad I asked before buying. Any other ideas to reduce the tracking?

The mats I find do ok to begin with, but clog up very quickly and are impossible to fully clean out, so it just spreads even more. The cats also sometimes just jump over them completely

Dead I'm intrigued, what does the bottom layer of crytals do?

If you religiously scoop the poop the crystals buy a little more time before the tray honks of wee so the cats are happy to use it a bit longer!

(as litter trays) I use large plastic stack boxes the cat jumps in and out of (like 8" tall sides).

Doesn't spread dust. No coughing.
I find clumping litter horrible.

Silly question about wood pellet litter

Wood pellets are dreadful, they get everywhere. I am resigned to cat litter all over the house, I have a dustpan and brush permanently attached to my person as my girl will not go in the garden.

I used wood pellets (clumping) for ages and they were good. Then Oko changed the way they were made and they did just turn to sawdust. The quality of all their litter went downhill a few years ago. The pellets were also not popular with all cats due to being hard on the paws. One didn't mind, one was very wary and unhappy about them.

I gave up in the end and used a combination of Cats best clumping (wood) and Greenwoods which is very similar but a bit more crunchy on the paws. I would only use clumping wood litter though, not clay as it can clump in the digestive system and clog up on small kitties, paper pellets blow everywhere and don't clump and silica is very dusty.

Shitleycat left us almost 6 months ago and I am still finding bits of litter.
