Really worried about kitten

I am so worried and was looking for some advice before I take my kitten to the vet in the morning. He is 8 months old and has never had any problems but he hasn't been right for the last few days.

Firstly he vomited a tiny bit on Thursday but was fine afterwards, then yesterday he didn't eat all day but had a tiny bit of food in the evening. Today he had a little bit of food this morning but hardly anything, I've also noticed while cleaning his litter tray that he has diarrhoea. He has been drinking water but the appetite loss and diarrhoea is really worrying me. But other than this he is himself, he's still playing and wanting fuss - he's still sleeping on my bed throughout the day but he does that everyday anyway!

I was going to take him to the vet this morning but as he ate a bit of food this morning I thought he was getting better. I'll be taking him in the morning but I am just beside myself with worry. Does anyone have any advice please? Or any idea what it could be?

Does he go out ? He has probably just picked up something or eaten something rotten . Give him some plain chicken . Animals will starve themselves until they feel better so I wouldn't worry about that . Def take to the vet though if he isn't better .

My cat gets like this when he has a tummy full of fur balls or worms. Has yours kitty been wormed recently?

rainyetagain · 14/03/2020 21:14

@oohnicevase he's an indoor cat at the moment but my older cat is an outdoor cat so maybe he's picked something up and passed it on? Thanks for the comment I'll try just giving him plain chicken, he won't eat anything at the moment even tuna which is his favourite Sad

@always2ndbest he is due to be wormed soon actually, that could well be it! I'll get that done first thing tomorrow Smile

Has he been wormed? Need this even if indoor cat I think.
Our kitten same age went to vet few weeks ago and was prescribed Panacur wormer which I have since found online. Granules to mix into food and kitten didnt notice.

@chocolatespiders thanks for the suggestion I'll have a look! I feel awful because another poster just suggested worming which reminded me that he is due to be wormed soon which could be why he's like this. Did your kitten have these symptoms too?

You haven't had any lilies in the house in the last few days?

chocolatespiders · 15/03/2020 08:47

My kitten was still eating but it was the loose stool I was worried about and it absolutely stunk, after research I was worried it was Giardia.
He was prescribed 3 days of panacur.
I also bought some sainsburys frozen basic white fish fillets and just poached in water. These are now a weekend staple! He also enjoyed some waitrose mackeral in water (tin) which I bought to hid the wormer but actually didnt beef to as he didnt notice.
Let us know how he is and post a photo!

My ginger cat gonew many years now was very probe to getting viral infections. He'd be ill, stop eating, would have diarrhoea. It was the equivalent of a human cold.
He had this at least once a year and lived to a ripe old age.
