Young male cat peeing on things.

Help!!!
I have a fixed male cat. 18 months old and ever since he was young he would pee on things like my bed( once when we were asleep in it), piles of washing, stuff in the garage.
My partner has told me he has to go.
For about year we blocked him off being allowed up to the bedrooms and he seemed to have stopped doing it but lastnight I went to go to bed to find he has pissed on our bed again.
We have 1 other cat who is quite old. They don’t really interact heaps but when they do they’re fine.
We do have 2 dogs aswel but he has never been afraid of them.
I have a 5 month old baby and I do want the cat to start peeing on his stuff.
Maybe it would be kinder to rehome him but who would want a cat that pees everywhere

How many litter trays so you have? What litter do you use? Does he go outside? Has he been checked for UTI? Are there other cats in the neighbourhood that could be causing him to mark out territory indoors?

I’d be taking him to the vets. He’s not happy whatever the cause may be. When did he last do it?.

If they spray inside their either ill or marking territory to reassure themselves all is well.

He’s outside most of the time.
There are a few cats around my house but he doesn’t seem to fight with them.
I have 1 litter tray which he uses and the door to the back yard is always open for the dogs. The cat has no issue going outside with them.
The littler tray is crystals. I have also seen him going out in the garden dirt before
A trip to the vet might be necessary

He last did it over 10 months ago. We blocked the doorway so he couldn’t get up to the bedrooms but in the last 3/4 months we have given him the option again mostly cause of the baby.

“His litter tray is crystals” BINGO! Really rough on paws, like us walking on Lego.

You need a big tray, big enough to turn around in and squat comfortably so he can splay is back legs, and ultra clumping litter because it’s very fine grained so is soft on paws.

I tried mine on crystals once, he gave me a wtf look and tried to wee on the wall.
