Cat bed

Hi
I wondered if anybody had any ideas on strategies to re-entice my cat to his cat tree/bed. I've given it a food hoover and clean, used Feliway spray but no luck so far. She still uses the scratching posts but won't sleep/play/sit in it. I would have thought it would be a haven for her from our boisterous toddler.

Just wondered if I was missing something obvious.

Thanks for reading.

Catnip?
Or announce loudly you had better get rid of the bed, shove it somewhere obscure "ready for the charity shop" and cat will suddenly love it. Best if it's placed in a really awkward spot where you can trip over it

Amazing cosy cushion? My dcat is obsessed with those extremely soft ones!!

RUSU92 · 22/02/2020 21:44

Maybe it was the cleaning that did it? They like to rub their scent all over their belongings so if you’ve cleaned it too much it won’t smell like hers anymore!

Is it high? Mine only like the top perch and prefer it to be situated at the top of the stairs where they can keep watch, or in the dining room where they can keep an eye on the dinner table!

Would putting some cat nip on it help? Or dreamies!

Catnip spray in pets at home?.

Ooh great suggestions, thank you. It is quite high. Maybe I could position it elsewhere in the house to see if changing the vantage point helps...

Or maybe low? Our two cats time-share a cat bed. It's under my bed, and they seem to like the peace and quiet there.

I had a bed that I hid behind a chair before throwing it out. It suddenly became the best thing ever!

One of ours prefers to hide when he sleeps in the evening. Always in a drawer or way back under the sofa. So it could just be habit or individual preference.

Surely the mere fact that this is what you want the cat to want to do is the reason why the cat doesn't want to do it!

My cat rotates through about six or seven different sleeping spots according to her whims. Including a box on top of a tall bookshelf (meaning whenever I want to change furniture around, I have to leave a way for her to get up to the top of the bookshelf).

You need to change your thinking. It's not a dcat bed /post.
It's a clothes stand /jumper storage facility. Knitting +wool complex.
Clean /folded /ironed clothes station.
All this will entice dcat to defy you....
And sleep up there..

Our cat has always loved her bed in winter - a white furry one, tucked in between the corner of the sofa and a radiator, although in summer she dosses down anywhere. She's pure white, so she looks so sweet curled up in it. But this year she was like, nope, and wouldn't go near it. I decided to shift it into the hall cupboard, but on a whim sat it up on the corner of the couch I sit on. And yes, suddenly bed is her absolute favourite again.
