Small furry presents 🙈

SnoreCat has had a busy day, one small furry mammal hunted and devoured on the patio. I make encouraging noises from the safety of the window and lock the cat flap til it’s all over.

10 mins later, and he’s proudly lying in the living room with a small furry mouse for me.......it’s massive.

I really struggle to deal with these presents. It’s only happened once before. Normally he eats them on the patio, but it had started raining and I think this one was meant for me....

Anyway to discourage the offerings?

My worry is that it had been under the sofa I wouldn’t have found it for a long while.

I know I am, I feel guilty for not tucking in, but as a vegetarian I don’t eat mouse.

Last week my friend wore her boots to do some outdoor work. Her foot hit something soft. Her ds had previously used the boots so assumed a wet sock inside maybe...
Not the actual squished vole she found when she removed the boot...
Yuck in the highest degree.

You should worry, my last present was a full size dead squirrel face up, on my front step, as far as he could go without getting through the door. I can cope with the mice.

I wouldn’t let him eat them, they can get worms that way.

I’m impressed though, I bet mice are really hard to come by in winter.

Mine doesn't eat them, he leaves them on the lawn for us. I go out with a dog poo bag to collect them.

His record was 6 one Sunday afternoon.

He is regularly wormed. Although I take your point.
I do feed him well so it’s not like he’s hard done by!

If I can distract him from the “hot snack” I will because the bone crunching is a bit much.

Two mice in 10 minutes in February has to be hard work, although we are backed onto fields. So possibly a plentiful supply.

My pair may be indoor cats, but a recent ingress of mice into the conservatory showed they are still mighty fine hunters. No indications at all that they have eaten anything, they would lose interest once they couldn't get any response from the corpse however much they poked it with a claw, so I'd be left with that (soggy from being a bit chewed but intact) body to dispose of. They had the best time of their lives!
