How long did it take your little fur babies to recovery after surgery?

My boy had his on Wednesday and is still not the same. He's had diarrhoea and been laying lifeless since then 😿 I did phone the vets yesterday and they said he should be fine but still not convinced. He has been drinking and I hand fed a some dry food.
He goes back tomorrow for his post op check up.

Mine were ok in a day or 2.

Veterinari · 07/02/2020 23:54

Should be back to normal within 12 hrs with adequate analgesia
I'd want blood tests to screen for normal organ function if you didn't do them pre-op?

thecatneuterer · 08/02/2020 00:07

I oversee the recovery of dozens, if not hundreds of neuter/returns a year. I don't normally see any affect at all once the anaesthesia has worn off after a few hours. I'm glad he's seeing a vet tomorrow as that really isn't normal at all.

gingerfreckles · 08/02/2020 00:12

Now I'm really worried. I've just checked him and he's laying sleeping in the same spot all day. Only got up to use the litter and drink water.

I’d take him in this morning, mine bounced back quickly.

Poor boy has had d & v overnight and is wobbly on his legs. His little face is so sad and he just wants cuddles and that retched cone off.
Off to the vets...

Mine never had a cone after neutering as the incision is so tiny. Does the wound look ok?

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/02/2020 14:27

Has he seen the vet?.

dementedpixie · 08/02/2020 16:27

Hope your cat is ok @gingerfreckles

Well what a day
Spent ages waiting at the vet due to some medical emergencies but little boy was eventually seen and given a anti sickness jab (which he didn't appreciate and promptly let the vet know by bitting her finger) and some canigest paste to bind him up. She reckons that he caught a bug when he was in having the snip Hmmwhich I'm BRIT impressed about.
Vet was concerned about him and said to report back tomorrow and bring him in if he hasn't perked up.
Since getting home he's ignored the wet food and nibbles on a bit of dry.

He's currently chasing a toy ball he's just found behind the sofa so fingers crossed things are looking up.

The anti sickness jab really stings so I think a little nip is to be expected. It shows spirit though, poorly animals don’t complain as much. Playing is an excellent sign.

Last time my departed boy had it I told them to muzzle him. He was too affronted to notice the jab.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/02/2020 08:28

How is he today?.

gingerfreckles · 09/02/2020 14:18

@fluffycloud the King is back! Lol he seems to be back on form jumping, eating and demanding attention. Thank goodness, I couldn't deal with any more poop and scoop Grin

thecatneuterer · 09/02/2020 14:29

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/02/2020 14:50

gingerfreckles · 09/02/2020 14:55

I've cleaned so much poop the past few days I might as well of had another child Confused
