At my wits end with neighbours Bengal - help!!!

Any advice on bengals most welcome! Neighbours moved in about 18 months ago with a Bengal boy kitten and initially, he got on really well with our 8 year old boy moggie. But over the last few months, he’s taken to terrorising our boy and I’m at my wits end!

Poor thing is locked out of the house all day come rain or shine with no access back into the house. It is constantly jumping up at our windows trying to fight our cat and no amount of throwing water, shouting and chasing makes it stop coming back. Our boy now can’t go out during the day, otherwise a costly vet visit follows Sad. Luckily Bengal is locked in at night and we have a microchip catflap so our mog can’t be followed inside.

DH is thinking of going to speak to the neighbours, but obviously as cat owners we completely understand that cats roam where they like (it is ridiculous though that he spends all day outside!).

Any advice on how to deal with it??

We have a female Bengal and she loves the water. Likes to out when it is raining and come on walk with us when we walk dogs. She goes into bushes and jumps out at dogs. She seems to think she is a dog. If you throw water at a Bengal that will encourage it. Our dogs and cats have a flap into kitchen where they have good and baskets. They also have large deluxe kennel in garden that Bengal cat often goes in with dogs. Other cats stay in more they have 2 indoor climbing trees but Bengal prefers to be climbing real trees. Make your cat an outdoor run with climbing tree in if you have enough room. Could your neighbours Bengal look in your window as it just wants to come in?

Your poor cat. Bengal could do serious damage as he sounds lethal. Does he always come into your garden by the same route? If so you could get one of those motion activated water sprays. He would soon tire of that. Also don't think Bengal couldn't access your house. I have electronic cat flap but if mine runs in at speed (usually chased by a bully) the flap stays up long enough to allow bully to catch the flap and gain access.

Though having now seen caringcarer perhaps not!

Ha! He's beautiful! Lying on top of radiator, our cats used to do that when I was a child

Iwould definitely speak to the owners or it will never be resolved - there are Bengal rescue centres if they don't want him & would be adopted by someone who does.I hope it gets sorted.

I agree, it sounds like they had no idea about cats in general and Bengals specifically. They sound irresponsible and neglectful and it's a shame the poor thing is not in a loving home

@AutumnCrow you should look into cat fences like this. The black bit bends if any weight is placed when cats try to walk on it, so it’s unstable and puts them off.

It not only keeps your cats in - it keeps all other cats out of your garden.

Sylvia may please keep him as not many people want Bengals they get them then just dump them .because hard work My Bengal is lovely although I had 3 tabbies & hes harder work than the 3 put together 🤣 he has a cat flap & luckily I live in a quiet area no main roads so hopefully he's safe & only work p/t I could never keep him as a house cat as too active he sleeps on the bed all night & loves company & really affectionate, they are very sensitive & intelligent

@Nekoness That looks impressive!
