New foster

It’s always exciting to get a new foster! She arrived last night, white with tortie splodges, very pretty. She’s four years old and has never been outside her previous home. She’s huddled at the back of her lovely bed (that she brought with her) so no picture yet. Hissing at me but not very seriously.

One step forward - she came out, sniffed my hand and rubbed her face on it. One step back - she was wiping my hand to make sure it was clean enough to bite. Not a serious bite.

You obviously aren't a 5*dcat slave op!!

AwkwardSquad · 18/01/2020 14:33

That’s hilarious. She was checking to see if you tasted nice enough for a nibble, and you passed the test

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/01/2020 17:25

Aww bless her .
My female does a 'bite' like she's picking something up , not a retaliation bite , very measured .
She's never had kittens though .

Did you foster the kittens-in-the-skip? Are they doing well?

Chemenger · 18/01/2020 17:35

Yes, I had the skip kittens. They’ve gone to their forever home and are much loved and growing like weeds!

She has come out for something to eat so we may be making progress. She’s had a huge excavation in the litter tray already. Sneaky photo as she sizes up my toes for investigation/ gnawing.

Very good progress!

@70isaLimitNotaTarget my female cat does exactly the same thing. She sizes up my arm or hand and then very slowly and deliberately grasps some flesh in her teeth, pulls gently but firmly and then releases it. Has never punctured the skin.

AwkwardSquad · 18/01/2020 19:49

She generally does it when she really really wants me to get up and bloody well feed her, dammit

Wolfiefan · 18/01/2020 19:53

She’s so pretty.
One of my torties bites. It’s like a switch flicks and she can’t help herself. She’s an odd thing!

justcly · 19/01/2020 04:48

I want her! I mean, I have two cats and three dogs already, but still. One of the dogs is a foster so doesn't count.

Chemenger · 19/01/2020 07:41

We’ve moved forward in our relationship. Now she comes out of hiding to tell me how angry she is with me for not being her proper mum. I now know it’s a warning meow, not a greeting, which is less painful. Still doing the rubbing of my hand before the clawing, which is polite. She has such a pretty little face, but does need to lose some weight. I’ve never seen brown on a cat like she has (mainly on the side not in the picture).

Why was she re-homed?.

Chemenger · 19/01/2020 08:56

She’s been very reluctantly given up due to her real mum’s health. Very sad.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/01/2020 09:01

Oh that’s awful, I hope you find her a lovely home very soon. That must have broken their hearts to give her up.

Chemenger · 19/01/2020 09:05

We will have no trouble rehoming her, we’re inundated with people wanting cats at the moment. Which reminds me that I need to go and do some admin about home visits.

I love how she seeks you out to tell you off Grin

Our previous cat (tortoiseshell&white) used to wait in the hall (we were at work) to tell us off for going out before sauntering through her cat door to go out .

(If I live to be a thousand, I will not understand cats)

Oh that’s sad. Cats are very good at communicating, aren’t they? To people who take the time to learn how they communicate, anyway. Flowers to lovely cat foster mums

Good at communicating but not the most logical of thinkers Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/01/2020 10:06

Our cat hated us going out at night, it was ok for him to piss off till 1am meaning we couldn’t go to bed but if we stayed out there was looks of quiet disapproval & complaints of abandonment.

Chemenger · 19/01/2020 17:55

i Wish people would send their cats with instructions. It seems she quite likes head rubs and maybe chin tickling. Touch her sides, however, and she gives a very angry yowl and storms off in a huff.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/01/2020 20:06

At least you’ll be able to make one on her.

justcly · 19/01/2020 21:57

Once a month I have to go to London for a week (work). The younger of my two cats sits in my suitcase and glares at me whilst I'm trying to pack.

Wallywobbles · 19/01/2020 22:07

One of mine killed and bled out a rat into my packed but open suitcase.

justcly · 19/01/2020 22:22

@Wallywobbles:

🤣

Chemenger · 12/02/2020 16:10

Final update. She’s gone to her new home, a lovely couple who will accommodate her foibles and spoil her rotten. As usual this happens just as she was starting to like us, sit on knees etc. Onwards to the next one...
