£350 for removal of one tooth?

My friend has been quoted this. Seems very steep to me. My girls had dentals that cost around £150 each. Is this about average? They are in the North West.

I've just paid almost £600 for dentals in 2 cats, one had broken a tooth and needed the bit that was left removing.

Both had tartar removed. Sounds about right to me, although costs vary between vets.

Do they trust the vet to do a good job though? Thats the issue to me.

Toddlerteaplease · 18/01/2020 15:57

I think so. Thought it's their first visit there. As the previous vet they used closed.

No, that's outrageous. Dentals are usually capped at £180. I'm in the North East but used to live in Manchester.

I’ve paid out £300+ each time mine had a dental. It’s not a quick job like a human extraction is.

Neptunesgiraffe · 19/01/2020 09:03

I paid 350 for my dog to have a tooth removed recently. He also got the other teeth cleaned. It was because I paid nearly 60 for bloods to be done before the anaesthetic and I guess the extra was the coat of the OP and the aftercare. Am also in the North West.

ClientListQueen · 19/01/2020 13:12

I'm in the NW and seems expensive to me. I paid less than that for Ollie and he had nearly all his teeth out

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/01/2020 13:15

Ooh I paid for the blood test to check his kidneys were up to a GA & two ga because he was too feisty to get blood out of.

Horsemad · 19/01/2020 13:41

My cats' surgeries were 20 mins long.

motherofdoodles · 19/01/2020 13:47

Wow that's expensive! Our ( rather aggressive!) 15 year old just had 5 removed and full dental for £150 in NI. Have to say though he's a new man, brought me a rats head last night. I mean once I stoped screaming I saw that cleanly decapitating a rat 5 days post dental surgery was impressive 🤦‍♀️

motherofdoodles · 19/01/2020 13:48

Oh and we paid extra for IV fluids during surgery to keep his BP stable due to his age

TheMemoryLingers · 19/01/2020 13:50

It can vary depending on whether it's a front or back tooth.

Lonecatwithkitten · 19/01/2020 13:57

Dental extractions in cats can be time consuming and tricky tying up a vet and a nurse and an anaesthetic machine for that time period. Good practice involves x-rays to check roots are correctly extracted. This all adds up £150 is dirt cheap for that level of care.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/01/2020 21:10

Sev is booked in to have his teeth cleaned Monday week. I've been quoted 150 €, so I assume it to be more expensive for an extraction.
