Panic about 18 year old cat in vet hospital

I am taking Dc to the vet hospital to have radioactive iodine treatment for her thyroid. We've tried everything and it's uncontrolled, this is our last option as she is 18 and not fit enough for a general anaesthetic.
It's an injection but she has to stay in for 2 weeks.
She has a lot of life left in her and I feel if this works I could well have her for another few years.
But I'm having a panic, she has never been away from me before for more than a couple of days, she is very much a mummy's girl, she doesn't even like me going to work and is a window Garfield waiting for me to come home.
I don't know if there is a risk of death involved in this treatment, I have been wringing my hand.
Has anyone else's cat had this treatment and were they ok?

No experience but a hand hold, cats are tough little animals. She will cope.

You will pay dearly though when she gets back though!.

Thank you. I'm sure I will pay, the last time I went away she did something very nasty in my shoe Grin

Why does she have to stay in? I had this as a human so might be different but I had to avoid, children, elderly people and immunosuppressed people. If she could come home and stay home in quarantine for 2 weeks surely that would be easier ( and cheaper)?

They are home in 4 days where we usually refer to.

Sorry that link hasn't worked - google the hyperthyroid cat centre. Home in 4 days usually. It's a very low risk procedure and is the gold standard of treatment for hyperthyroidism. She will likely be totally fine. It's really safe and cure rate is 99%

Mr cat had the same treatment and had to stay for two weeks. I was so worried but she was absolutely fine and is so much better now. She's got a new lease of life. The hospital were brilliant and I got daily updates.
I don't know how old my cat is as she'd been living as a stray before I adopted her, but she's definitely over 15. The 2 weeks will fly past. Your doing the right thing 😻
