Microchip Cat Flap

Hi

Just wondering what experience people have had with these cat flaps and any do's or don't's or recommendations? We would like to get one for our ten month old kittens who now go out a lot but I'm going back to work on Thursday after a few months off so as things currently stand we will either have to leave them in or out from 9 - 4 every day and either way they will be disgusted as they are used to me spending my recovery from surgery standing like a right twit holding a door open for hours on end 🙄. Ideally we're thinking one that's linked to their microchip that can be locked at night to keep them in.

Thanks in advance.

I have the Sureflap pet door and you can set open and lock times so they can't go out at night. The basic cat flap doesn't have the timer but can be manually locked at night. Sureflap seemed to be the most popular brand when I bought mine but I'm sure there are other options work looking at. I've been perfectly happy with the Sureflap though, had it 3 years with no problems

I'm interested in this too for our kittens. There are so many cats in the area and some very interested Tom's looking at our girls.
My mother seems to be constantly chasing her neighbours cat around with things stuck to its magnet collar, (highlights of this week were house keys and a box of drawing pins) and one of our kittens won't keep a collar on anyway.

I have the original Sureflap. It's brilliant, I would definitely recommend it

We have the Sureflap connect, which is the microchip one you can set to automatically open and close at specific times. It works well for us because our babies don't g out at night, so I just set them a curfew at 8pm and don't need to worry about them being out after dark if I'm home late. When we go away in January for a few days we will have a neighbour feeding them, s9 this way I can still keep them in at night even when I'm not going to be around.

I can also see their comings and goings on the Sureflap app which I find quite reassuring Smile

Thanks a mill for all the recommendations. Sound fairly unanimous which is great.
