Yellow vomit

Hello. Wondering how worried to be. My 2 year old indoor cat has been listles today, sleeping most of the day (he was ok yesterday) and has just puked bright yellow liquid vomit on the floor (there's no hairball or anything, it's just clear liquid with a very yellowish tinge).

Should I be worried or leave him to sleep?

He's not eaten since yesterday.

If you ring the vet a nurse will be able to advise you, he doesn’t sound well at all.

Thanks, I've just got through to the out of hours vet, waiting to speak to the nurse now. Fingers crossed.

Any news?.

clanger71 · 24/12/2019 19:41

Nurse said to try and tempt him to eat, monitor closely and take him in if worried. He's not having any of it, not sure if he has a temperature. It's about a half hour drive so I think I'll take him in 'just in case'.

I would too, it’s not like you can take his temperature yourself is it?.

Good luck, I hope it’s easily treated.

clanger71 · 24/12/2019 20:48

Thanks for the good wishes. At the vet's now - he's got a temperature. They're doing a blood test for his kidneys. Think it might be an infection. Just waiting - fingers crossed it's nothing serious.

Hope the poor fella is better soon. Timing of these things is never the best is it?!

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/12/2019 21:05

It’s typical cat timing though, major bank holiday, out of hours vets, night time.

I hope it’s just a minor infection

Autumnchill · 24/12/2019 21:07

Yellow vomit was liver for our cat but they were elderly. Hope they are okay and nothing major!

clanger71 · 24/12/2019 22:12

Thanks Fluffycloudland77, Vinorosso74 and Autumnchill! They think it's some sort of infection, his kidneys are ok. Antibiotic injection and he's home now. I probably over reacted but you hear of them going downhill so fast sometimes so better safe than sorry. Typically inconvenient timing, but hopefully he'll be on the road to recovery!

Thanks for your advice and good wishes. Merry Christmas Xmas Smile.

Never an over reaction! Hope they recover for turkey tomorrow 😊

slipperywhensparticus · 24/12/2019 22:17

My cats love an out of hours visit as do my children 🤔 fingers crossed he will be ok x

clanger71 · 24/12/2019 22:17

Hahaha, thanks Grin;

It’s not an over reaction, we’d want an antibiotic shot if we had an infection & he did sound a miserable cat tonight.

Nothing perks them up like the cold hard anger of being taken to the vets.

Ours used to complain all the way there, icy silence going home.

Vinorosso74 · 24/12/2019 22:19

Probably better to go tonight. I dread to think the OOH charge for Christmas day!
Hope he's feeling better in the morning.

Toddlerteaplease · 24/12/2019 22:51

Definitely the right fed ion to go tonight. Better safe than sorry. Hope he's on the mend soon.

clanger71 · 25/12/2019 08:59

Merry Christmas everyone!

Just to update, he's got up, drunk the springwater off the top of a tuna tin (he loves that Grin) and is watching the world go by out of the window so he's hopefully on the mend.

Thanks everyone!

I hope he’s strong enough for his Christmas dinner later.

Autumnchill · 26/12/2019 14:07

Hopefully on the mend then 😊

clanger71 · 27/12/2019 15:05

Thank you eveyone, he's back to normal now! No idea what caused it, but he's his usual daft self now ☺.
