Cat fighting outside.

Hi all,

I wondered if you had any advice on another cat fighting my cat.

My cat is neutered but this other cat seems to be bullying my cat.

Any advice appreciated. Smile

If you hear the fighting I'd go out and chase the other cat off. They don't like water so squirting the other cat with a bit of water works and won't do it any harm and will hopefully act as a deterrent after a few times. My cat thinks he owns the street and fights with the large cat opposite despite tolerating the next door neighbours cat. Had quite a few vets bills due to them fighting so if I hear them I'm straight out to split them up and get my cat in out of harms way. When they first moved in and the cats had been in a fight we agreed to try and let them out at different times to avoid them fighting too often (my cat is always in overnight and has a routine so this makes it a bit easier). Good luck!

Forgot to say my cat is also neutered it it doesn't stop him as they are naturally territorial. Also if you see the other cat hanging around shoo it away every time.

My kitten- thanks for the advice. I have tried to shoo him away but it doesn’t really work. He’s cost us so much vets bills and my cat is an elderly boy and he shakes after it Sad

I haven’t let him back out as I’m worried for him.

I agree, try a water pistol as soon as you spot him in your garden, even if your cat isnt outside (or make one from an empty washing up liquid bottle - but well rinsed out so offender cat doesn't get soapy water on him). You can also buy sonic cat deterrents, I bought one for about £20 a few years ago that worked well to deter a new neighbourhood cat coming in and using our garden as its toilet. It would probably mean you keeping your boy inside for a few days or you turning off while your boy is outside.

You could also consider cat proofing your garden if its suitable, that would keep your boy in as well as offender cat out but if he's getting on a bit that might not be a bad thing.
