Distressed kittens

Our 4 month old kittens were spayed last week . Unfortunately one of their scars has not healed so she has been given a body suit to wear . Her sister has gone crazy - hissing and growling , won’t go near her . Very upsetting as they were so affectionate before and were rarely apart. I’ve had to separate them now for bed time and can just hear them howling . Anything we can do to make kitten 1 remember who her sister is and not be so distressed ?

Will the kitten tolerate a cone on instead.
Or remove bodysuit and rub it along the other kitten so it smells normal. How long are you keeping the bodysuit on. Its pretty rare to have real issues with a cat spay wound. They are normally so small

Thanks for the quick reply . The cone doesn’t really help as it’s the other kitten licking the wound and playing with her . Hopefully it won’t be too long as it’s not really bad .

Should be ok with a bit of time, we had this when one was coned post op, the other was horrible to her, she clearly didn't recognise her in her new outfit!

It's the smell she doesn't recognise. As Insane says can you rub it on something to get their/your smell on it, their bedding, your towels or something?

We’ve had this just recently, they settled down very quickly

Thanks got reassurance . Any advice - do we just leave them to get used to each other again ? The hissing of the one kitten sounds quite viscous although I know she is the frightened one

Meant to say these are our first cats so we are novices

It is the unfamiliar scent, once she smells like ‘her’ again and not of the clinic and all the strange animal/surgical smells they’ll be fine

We have two rescue kittens who are a similar age but didn’t come to us together, the female was spayed first and spent a few days in the clinic, when she came home in her suit the boy wouldn’t go near her, but now they’re back to playing and sleeping together as if nothing had happened. Just be patient and try swooping their beds/blankets so they get each other’s smell again

I've got 2 adult cats and when one goes to the vet they are very suspicious on the return home. I googled it and apparently it's unsual/forigne smells. As cats are very smell oriented and their eye sight isn't great. So like pp's have said I think the smell is an issue. Try running it on the other kitten or stroking them and then the suit. Hope you get sorted soon.
